Cameras follow junior doctor Ming, who for the first time in his career carries out a needle aspiration on a 19-year-old patient brought into A&E with a collapsed lung. A woman who is 17 weeks pregnant falls down the stairs, and fears the accident may lead to a possible miscarriage. She recounts her struggles to conceive, and fears that if this pregnancy fails, she may never have a child.

Something Changed
A 70-year-old man is rushed to St George's after he is found struggling to breathe. His daughter shares the story of how her father overcame his long battle with alcoholism. The wife of a man receiving treatment for foot and knee pain shares how her childhood taught her the importance of being there for your partner in marriage. A woman and her five-year-old son are rushed to St George's after being hit by a car.

An Education in Happiness
Nurse Emma is called to resus to help 71-year-old Thomas who has had a suspected stroke, and has a narrow window of time to give Thomas a life-saving drug. While treating him, Emma tells us the story of how she went from working in a dry-cleaners as a teenager to pursuing a career as a stroke nurse. At the same time, 88-year-old Mary is rushed to St George's after falling at home and injuring her head.

A Love Like No Other
Doctors at St George's in south London treat a cyclist who collided with a stampede of deer, and are concerned about the extent of blood loss from the puncture wounds. A mother of two who had a heart attack three weeks previously now fears she is having another, and an 18-month-old child has developed a limp.

You Are Not Alone
A man who has already had one arm amputated at 13 after a factory accident cuts his hand in a blender while cooking for his family. He relates the story of how he came to the UK and never let the loss of his arm hold him back. Other patients include a woman with cerebral palsy and learning difficulties who has suffered a suspected stroke.

A Hand To Hold
The wife and carer of an 80-year-old patient whose dementia is progressing reflects on 53 years together as a couple, and her story has a profound effect on nurse Josey. A staff member from the Neurology Department has an epileptic seizure, and a diving coach is in Minor Injuries with a fractured ankle after falling while ice skating.
