The 1980 European Football Championship in Italy ends in disaster for the Dutch team. Everything goes wrong. The selection has been drilled by national coach Zwartkruis to such an extent that there is no energy left in it. The hotel where the players are staying is full of tourists, just walking in and out, just like the press. Third goalkeeper Hans van Breukelen is bullied by the older players. And then some players are also busy with possible transfers to Italy, where the transfer market just reopened in 1980 after a years-long ban. "Erwin looks like me, Ronald looks like his father," mother Marijke says about her sons. Erwin the elegant and modest football player, Ronald the man putter and leader. We portray the Koeman brothers and take them to Munich, where they won the European Championship in 1988. A lot has changed in the Olympiastadion, but not everything. They talk about their lives, football and the loss of their father Martin, who died in 2013. Between the flats in the Wijert district of Groningen, where Erwin and Ronald grew up, childhood friends reminisce about the two opposites. At their first club vv Helpman, former teammates talk about the brothers.
