Alison Braithwaite's £38 million win on the Euro Lottery is now no longer a secret, and the family has set up home in a mansion. David's affair with Elaine is over and he's revelling in the wealthy lifestyle. But for the rest of the family, things aren't quite so good: Sarah is pregnant, Charlotte is bullied at school, Viriginia is having trouble with her relationships. For Alison, though, the affair was a bitter blow: how can David prove his fidelity (with a little help from the girls), and what will happen when his brother Graham comes to the house-warming party?

Alison has decided to call the divorce off. The girls organise a surprise second honeymoon for their parents in the Lake District - in the same hotel where they spent their first. But Virginia has also invited Graham and his wife Helen - and Alison has a secret to reveal about him; is this the end of the Braithwaites' marriage. Back at home, the girls need cheering up after a terrible day, but during a food fight, Sarah goes into labour, and it's up to Virginia to be her birth-partner - until the child's father, Phil, turns up.

Charlotte's determination to get the family back on track involves a appearance on a TV quiz show, but Alison refuses point blank - they're no longer a 'normal' family. There's an expensive offer for Virginia to make to Megan in the aftermath of the drunken previous night and Alison finally meets up with Graham. He tells her he's in love with her too, but she refuses to have an affair with him and put another woman through that sort of pain. But he and Helen are getting a divorce, so she relents, and they begin seeing one another. But someone is watching them.

David has hired a private detective to follow Alison - and his worst fears have been realised. He confronts her about the affair and asks if they can get back together. But Alison and Graham are planning to get married. As a parting shot, David drops a bombshell about his brother: perhaps Graham's motives aren't as romantic as they seem. When Sarah catches David and Elaine together, she swallows her pride and returns to her mother. And there's another shock for Virginia when unsuspecting Mike arrives to tell her that Megan has left him - can she cover up her re-kindled affair to Tamsin, or will she find herself alone? Alison has an announcement to make to the girls: Graham is moving in.

When Alison is told that Graham has 'skipped town', she decides to leave the country and look after herself. But there's more terrible news in store, when Megan makes a decision, Virginia's guilty secret is revealed and she disappears. David and Alison are thrown together by this crisis and David realises that Alison's the only person he can trust, so he confesses his terrible secret - he's killed his own brother.

Alison is struggling to deal with David's news when Tamsin phones - Virginia has fallen into the river in York - is it attempted suicide? Alison and David rush to see her. Later, Alison and David discuss what to do about Graham. They agree to wait until after Sarah's wedding before going to the police. But Sarah is still not sure she wants to go ahead with the wedding and Phil, having picked up on her reluctance, calls the wedding off. Virginia and Tamsin, now reconciled, dash back from hospital - Virginia's due to be a bridesmaid. On the way, Virginia gets a call on her mobile. From Graham. Everything's turned upside down for the family. Can the family emerge unscathed from the chaos? Or is it too late?
