Below Deck Adventure - Season 1
Season 1
Episodes
Mercury Rising
Captain Kerry takes "Below Deck" on its greatest adventure yet – the cold waters of Norway! Faye joins motor yacht Mercury as chief stew with experience from all over the world as a former businesswoman, but when she finds out her team of stews knows each other, she worries how their past will serve the interior. Chef Jess has a big appetite for wanderlust and adventure, but the remote conditions of Norway limit her provisioning options as she sizes up the storage issues on the boat as well as her new chief stew. Bosun Lewis is excited for his new opportunity to lead a team with kindness, but he's worried his aversion to conflict will soon be tested. When it's time for Nathan to hand over his anchor watch duties to deckhand Kyle, tensions rise and Kyle's cowboy ways leave Nathan wondering if he will buck up or shut up.
Viking Cowboy
The first adventure of the season sends the charter on a caving expedition, but it's Kyle who ends up digging himself into a hole by flirting with Kasie in front of guests. When Capt. Kerry gets word of Kyle's behavior, red flags are at full-mast and he orders his easygoing bosun, Lewis, to get control of his team. Communication issues between the stews and the galley continue to mount, putting meal quality in jeopardy and sparking distrust between Jess and Faye. After taking ill on Day 1 of charter, Oriana strives to prove herself worthy to Faye. Nathan clashes with Kyle over life jacket safety and Mike gets a crash course in Charter Yachting 101.
The Norwegian Tussle
Lewis warns Kyle that his bad behavior has Capt. Kerry on high alert. When the Mercury engines fail, Kerry has to rely on his young deck crew to execute a precarious docking. With their first charter behind them, the crew celebrates with a night out on the town, but Kyle parties like there's no tomorrow. His failure to flush the cabin toilet leads to an altercation with Nathan and lands him in hot water with the captain again. Faye and Jess chalk up the issues between their departments to first-charter jitters. After sizing up her team, Faye doesn't name a second stew, leaving Oriana anxious and confused about her standing on the boat.
Mercury Mayhem
As the Mercury team prepares for their next charter, Capt. Kerry notifies the crew he asked Kyle to resign. Pressures rise for both the interior and exterior team as they are drowning in extra duties. Capt. Kerry lends a helping hand to the short-staffed deck crew by transporting the guests to the boat. These Southern belles are single and ready to mingle with the exterior team but start to lose their patience with the interior team as they realize most of their food items can't be sourced in Norway. Things get too hot in the galley during a stressful breakfast service, leaving Jess's future on the boat up in flames.
Under the Bubbles
After Jess burns herself, Capt. Kerry lends a hand to prepare a five-star picnic for the guests' excursion. Nathan becomes a standout in service, leading guests on an epic biking adventure down the Trollstigen road by day and serving shirtless by night. As Charter 2 ends, Lewis faces the pressure of being a man down for another charter. Faye is furious when she learns that second stew epaulets have been ordered for Oriana behind her back. A crew night off leads to something steamy in the hot tub.
(The Real) Yacht-wives of Norway
After a steamy night in the hot tub, Lewis is met with fears of where his relationship with one of the stews will stand in the morning. Faye questions who she can trust after Oriana went over her head to order new epaulets. With elite and demanding charter guests, Faye calls on the already short-handed deck team for assistance and even goes so far as to pull Nathan out of bed, causing a blow up with Mike and Faye. Later, while on anchor watch, an overworked and exhausted Nathan goes to bed before handing the shift over, leaving the boat unattended and a furious Lewis calling him out in front of Capt. Kerry. In the galley, Oriana struggles to keep up with the pace of breakfast, causing Jess to lose her temper with the entire interior. Lewis and Nathan take the guests on an epic adventure ziplining through the jungles of Norway. A misstep leaves the exterior at risk of losing yet another deckhand.
Aye Aye, Captain Deckhand
In the aftermath of Nathan's fall down the stairs, Lewis and Capt. Kerry worry they'll be down yet another deckhand as they await the arrival of a new crew member. During service, the interior team continues its ongoing battle with the exterior when Mike misses a walkie call to help carry plates to the table. Primary charter guest Heather Gay and friends request a fire and ice theme for their final dinner, prompting Jess to experiment with a dessert she's never made before, leaving her stressed. Communication issues cause problems on deck for Lewis just as his new deckhand – a former captain – arrives and starts assessing the team. Faye sets her sights on the new guy. A crew night out in Alesund ends with a one-cabin cuddle party.
Elevate Yourself
With a full crew finally onboard the Mercury, things should be smooth sailing, but new deckhand Seth is quick to find cracks within the leadership of his department and vows he could run it better. A Viking Oktoberfest-themed dinner serves up some brat-ty attitudes when a plate mix-up pushes Chef Jess to call out the interior in front of the guests for not reading their preferences. Faye coordinates her most challenging adventure yet by taking the guests paragliding. While there, Faye must rely on the rest of her team to fulfill the other pieces of the adventure itinerary. However, when the plan changes without her permission, Faye reminds everyone why it's not a good idea to cross her.
