Benidorm - Season 1
Season 1
Episodes
Episode 1
Gaston's job as lush businessman Karel's car and parking attendant barely makes ends meet, so he considers the annual Blankenberge (home coast) holiday expensive enough, but his wife Angèle is jealous of her 'friends' bragging about travels abroad, so she is dead-set on the most popular beach destination: Benidorm, Spain. Gaston isn't easily persuaded, until his greater fear, mother-in-law, invites them for a Blankenberge holiday and a friend offers them free house-sitting in Benidorm.
Episode 2
Gaston's holiday mood, despite the feared alternative destination Benidorm, Spain, lasts until Angèle starts messing up packing. Next everything goes wrong all the way to Spain, a hellish bus-ride. That however proves only foretaste of the constant misery in Benidorm, where they discover knowing no Spanish is just one of many recurring or surprising problems.
Episode 3
Gaston's holiday turns miserable again after carrying their heavy luggage six floors up. Janitor Pedro does his best explaining how everything works or doesn't (no water before breakfast!), despite a bit of a language barrier, but the tourists prove terribly bad at guessing Spanish, yet suspicious when some German is used. The couch-bed proves to complicated, even after a demonstration.
Episode 4
Gaston's holiday misery continue as two apartment neighbors turn out to be fellow Antwerp natives, retired and talkative regulars. Anegle is delighted with a female chatter companion, less amused Gaston keeps calling her gullible husband Leo in stead of Theo, but at least he knows enough Spanish to translate with janitor Pedro.
Episode 5
While Theo accompanies their wives and carries their shopping loot, Gaston is dead-set on taking a bath, although the apartment's erratic new plumbing proves a tough nut to crack. Gaston even resorts to 'finding' a tube to transfer water from the tap.
Episode 6
Gaston finally manages to transfer water from the tap to take a bath, albeit in dirty water. He allows a Dutch girl from the neighboring apartment to clean up in his bathroom, which her Hulk-size partner Kees misreads and 'rewards' knocking out one of Gaston's teeth with his mighty fist. Meanwhile lazy Angele fell asleep and suffers major sunburn. Gaston must explain to Pedro, get her to hospital and phone her wickedly mistrusting mother at home.
Episode 7
While sunburned Angele, just released from hospital, is bandaged with cucumber compresses, Gaston follows her insincere advice by going shopping, hoping the loot will cheer her up. Instead she got all worked up over a theory Gaston is 'picking up young girls' packages' and suspicious what happened with Kees and his fiancée. The process to explain costs some more black-eyes.
Episode 8
Gaston hosts a party on his last day in Benidorm, or at least that's what everybody else believes. mainly due to language problems, Pedro's culinary instructions are badly followed. The paella is saved in time, but the sangria gets spiked to atomic strength. Gaston also invited the Dutch couple to make up, but Theo experiences the dangers of peacemaking and the girls cause another scanty cloths drama.
Episode 9
On the long bus voyage home, Gaston starts dreaming and recalling happy beach (girl) memories, but Angele keeps nagging, wining, punching his arm and even makes an embarrassing scene. She forgets her purse with the house keys in the taxi, so they must try to break-in at home and seek help from neighbor Tuur in the pouring rain. Gaston ends up breaking his foot.
Episode 10
Gaston bravely bits his broken foot-pain while cleaning up the basement mess and doing some repairs with Tuur. They exchanges views and advice on (their) women, work, customers, bosses, health worries etcetera. Sneeky booze brings some comfort.
Episode 11
Initially unsuspecting Gaston and 'whipped' Tuur grudgingly try cleaning up the basement, which their ever-nagging wives want transformed into a sauna and other wellness room. However when Gaston's boss Karel, the banker, drops by, he proves most interested in the many empty bottles of exclusive French wine lying around. Tuur overcomes Gaston's doubts and conscience hiccups against filling them up with Tuur's home-brewed junk to sell as the expensive real deal since Karel accidentally tasted and loved it.
Episode 12
Gaston keeps doubting Tuur's plan, but gullible Karel proves it's likely to pay off well. Even Gaston's anger the women make them slave on sauna and other expensive nonsense is overcome when Karel proves prepared to pay extra just to speed things up. Anyhow, the wives starved them sexually while dropping food to keep them hungry, so once the promise of of profit swings their mood it's kiss-up and bed party time again.
Episode 13
Gaston and Tuur delight their wives when the recreation basement is finished. They also want them occupied so they can pull off the wine scam. Banker Karel falls for it, but also gets drunk and touches Angele, so Gaston spills the beans and offers to return his check, but he prefers to go along with what still constitutes a mighty prank to pull on socialite friends. Grandma sends news from Spain: she managed to buy Gaston's Benidorm apartment for him, but also bought the neighboring one for herself.
