Boruto: Naruto Next Generations - Season 5 / Year 2021

The airship carrying Kara's "Vessel" has crashed in the Land of Fire and the Inners hold an emergency meeting regarding it.

Team 7 is given a mission to escort Katasuke and the prosthetic arm to a research lab in another city. 

Team 7 and Katasuke arrive at the Advanced Technology Lab and are met with familiar faces.

After finding out that Konohamaru and Mugino have gone missing, Team 7 is ordered to go to their last known location and investigate what happened.

Team 7 learns that Ao is now an enemy that works for Kara. 

The showdown between Team 7 and Ao begins.

After Ao's defeat, Koji Kashin appears before Team 7 and attempts to ensnare them in a sealing jutsu and eliminate them. 

Koji Kashin retreats from battle after seeing that Boruto has a "Karma" mark on his hand. Shortly after, Team 7 discovers a battle site where a boy lies unconscious.

Boruto and the others learn that the boy named Kawaki is the target that Kara has been seeking. 

Boruto and the others return to the technology lab to contain and watch over Kawaki while Konohamaru returns to the Leaf Village to report the events of the mission to Naruto.

Wounded and hungry, Kawaki escapes from the tech lab and makes his way to a nearby town to find food. Sumire tracks him down, believing she can help him.

Kawaki falls unconscious and is taken to the Leaf Village. While he sleeps in a hospital, he is plagued with nightmares of his childhood days when he lived with his abusive father.

During a Kage Summit, it is decided that Naruto will take custody of Kawaki. Kawaki reluctantly accompanies Naruto to the Uzumaki household.

Kawaki starts living at the Uzumaki household. At first, he has a difficult time opening up and trusting the family, but the peaceful environment of the house helps to calm him down. 

Kawaki offers to work with Boruto to learn more about the Karma they both possess, but Boruto is still angry with him for breaking Himawari's vase. To try to make amends, Kawaki goes into town with Naruto to find a new vase.

Naruto trains Boruto at shinobi hand-to-hand combat while Kawaki and others watch. Kawaki insists that Boruto uses his Karma against Naruto to learn how to wield it's power.

Delta loses patience with Koji Kashin and begins to search for Kawaki herself. Meanwhile, to learn more about how to control their Karma, Boruto and Kawaki spar with each other while Naruto and Himawari watch.

Delta makes her way into the village and appears before Naruto and the others to take Kawaki back. 

Naruto continues his battle against Delta, but she has scientific ninja tools implanted in her body that can shoot destructive beams and absorb any jutsu. 

After losing his arm in battle, Kawaki is given a prosthetic arm powered by Naruto's chakra. Learning about the powers and capabilities of using chakra, Kawaki asks Naruto to be trained in ninjutsu.

Kurama appears before Kawaki and tells him about Naruto's past. Hearing that they have similar experiences, Kawaki aspires to be like Naruto.

Using data found on Kara's airship, Sasuke travels to a strange location that has a connection to the Otsutsuki Clan. 

Everyone is going about their daily lives in the village until Jigen suddenly appears before Kawaki.

Naruto is sent into another dimension with Jigen. They are joined by Sasuke, who informs Naruto about Jigen being an immensely dangerous individual. Naruto and Sasuke engage in a fierce battle and attempt to put an end to Jigen.

Boruto, Kawaki and the others sense something has happened to Naruto. But before anyone can act, Shikamaru and his subordinates arrive and erect a barrier around the Uzumaki home to contain Kawaki, believing he can't be trusted.

Boruto, Sarada, Mitsuki, and Kawaki arrive at the dimension that Naruto is trapped in, but Boro is there waiting for them. The four create a team with Sarada leading them to fight Boro, who uses a black mist to paralyze his enemies.

The reformed Team 7 launches a series of attacks on Boro. But even when they land successful attacks, Boro instantly revives himself with his extraordinary regeneration powers.

Boro goes on a rampage and attempts to eliminate Boruto and the others. Boruto is beat down and falls unconscious.

Kawaki begins to worry that his presence is endangering everyone in the Leaf Village. Just as he makes the decision to leave, he notices Himawari acting strange.

Konohamaru and Sai are given a mission to infiltrate Boro's cult in order to obtain information on Kara and its whereabouts.

News has spread throughout the Leaf Village that a cloaked man has stolen data from the archives. Team 10 decides to launch their own investigation to find and catch the thief.

Amado defects from Kara. Desiring to seek asylum in the Leaf Village, he takes Shikadai hostage.

Amado reveals to Naruto and the others the knowledge that he possesses regarding Jigen, the Otsutsuki Clan, and Karma.

Koji Kashin continues his battle with Jigen, whose body is revealed to have been taken over by Isshiki Otsutsuki. 

Isshiki regains his true form and goes to the Leaf Village to recapture Kawaki. The Leaf shinobi prepare for his arrival.

Boruto opens a portal and transports Isshiki and himself to another dimension. Naruto and Sasuke follow them, and the final battle against Isshiki begins.

Naruto and Sasuke are greatly overwhelmed by Isshiki's abilities. As a last resort, Kurama offers Naruto a chakra mode called Baryon Mode, which grants him immense power.

Naruto and the others witness Isshiki's end. When they think the fighting is over, Sasuke is suddenly attacked by Boruto.

Naruto and the others return to their village after defeating Isshiki. Boruto is worried that Momoshiki might take over his consciousness once again. Meanwhile, Amado gives some information about a mysterious new villain named Code.

Since the battle with Isshiki, Boruto has trouble sleeping, fearing his Otsutsukification will progress even more. Naruto converses with the other Kage about Code, as well as what do to about Boruto's condition.

Naruto, the 7th Hokage will organize a Chunin exam for Genin in the Konohagakure village. The purpose of this test is to restore the confidence of all the villagers who are worried by the attack of Isshiki, a large number of Shinobi will come together to promote the event. But will the promotion of Shinobi done so smoothly without any surprise?

The Leaf genin that passed the first two rounds are given one day to rest and train before the final round of the Chunin Exam.

The final round of the Chunin Exam begins and Inojin and Houki are selected to fight in the first match. Meanwhile, when Boruto and Mitsuki are heading to the arena for the Exam, they spot suspicious men in the village.

The next match of the final round is Wasabi versus Iwabe. Iwabe is pumped to take her on, but Wasabi is not as enthusiastic.

Sarada and Cho-Cho are chosen for the third match of the final round of the Chunin Exam. Even though they're best friends, the two make a promise to each other to give it everything that they've got and take the fight seriously.

Boruto and Mitsuki are called for the next match. Unfortunately, due to them not arriving on time for the Exam, they are disqualified, which leads to the final match between Denki and Tsubaki.

As a chunin, Sarada will become Team 7's new captain, relieving Konohamaru of his duties. The team becomes saddened by this fact, but when a mission Konohamaru is on goes awry, they ask to have one final mission with him as their leader.

For Kawaki to become a genin, Naruto has him go on D-Rank missions, which will serve as tests to see if he is qualified. 

Given one last chance at becoming a genin, Kawaki is assigned to join Shikadai and Cho-Cho on a mission to escort and protect Mozuku from the Land of Calm Seas.

Kawaki, Shikadai and Cho-Cho are attacked by shinobi that steal Mozuku's package. Realizing the mission is not a regular escort mission, Shikadai makes the decision to return home, but Kawaki disregards his orders and goes after the enemy.
