Odcinek 1
The year 1945. Zofia Szablewska, a repatriate from the east, arrives in former Breslau, now Wrocław. She lives in a post-German villa - Dom pod Dwoma Orły. Zofia's roommate is Jan Liski, an officer of the Security Office, who is raising his stepson, Kazia, on his own. Through the Red Cross, Zofia is looking for her husband Antoni and son Zbyszek, with whom she lost contact during the war. The commemorative clock left by the Germans evokes memories of her family Kresy, the Nowosioło estate and the beginning of her love with a Polish settler - Antoni. In the same house, almost half a century later, the elderly Grandma Zofia meets Paul, the fiancé of her granddaughter, Marianna. Even though Paul is an American, he has the same surname as Szablewski. The identity of the names and the fact that Paul's grandfather also came from Kresy cause Grandma Zofia to behave mysteriously and ask about details from the past of Paul's family.

1997. In the ophthalmologist's office located in the House under Two Eagles, Zofia's daughter, Helena, receives an unexpected patient. It is a young German engineer, Uwe. Marianna is interested in him, she has the impression that she has known him forever. Grandma Zofia wants to tell Marianna something important about Paul. They make an appointment in the morning, but at night a flood floods Wrocław with a twelve-meter wave. The floor of the House under Two Eagles is flooded up to the ceiling, and Grandma Zofia has a stroke. The helicopter takes her to the hospital, while Grandma Zofia, delirious with illness, returns with her memories to Nowosioło, where she and Antonii are getting married. The solemn ceremony coincides with a tragic event - the attack of the Bolshevik gang on a unit of Polish soldiers. Meanwhile, trying to find out something about his roots, Paul goes to Nowosioł. In an old, ruined chapel, he finds a commemorative plaque with the name of his family, and then a family tomb. Soon he ends up in a ruined family mansion.

Wroclaw 1997. Marianna extracts a metal cassette exposed by the flood from the basement and makes an incredible discovery. Inside is the Tagebuch - Lisa Weber's diary. Difficult to read the German manuscript, Marianna learns about the world of the previous tenants of the House under the Two Eagles. After World War I, little Lisa, her brother Karl and despotic father Johannes leave the bankrupt Koningsdorf estate for Breslau to start a new life. Johannes Weber renews his business with his friend, the enterprising Jew Goldstein, to quickly get back on his economic feet. When the children grow up, Karl decides to study architecture, and Lisa secretly dreams of medicine. The money earned by Johannes allows him to start building a new seat of the Weber family, the House of the Two Eagles. However, the vision of the house being built becomes a battlefield of generational ambitions between Karl and his father. Soon Johannes dies, leaving the growing children to fend for themselves. Fortunately, they are looked after by Goldstein.

Grandma Zosia, who remains delirious, recalls her past. Kresy, 1922. The Szablewski family is wealthy and full of affluence, and Zofia is expecting a child. The only thing that worries young people is growing nationalism and anti-Polishness fueled by Stalinist Russia. Zosia hires a wet-nurse, a Ukrainian peasant, Hela. Finally, the long-awaited son, Zbyszek, is born. On his birthday, another important event takes place. The Szablewskis adopt Wasylka, the son of Hela, who dies tragically in a great fire. While exploring Lisa Marianna's diary, she discovers the fate of the Weber siblings. Karl benefits from an inherited inheritance. He collects expensive appliances and runs an open house for friends. One of them is Peter Litke. Peter supports Lisa in her plans to study medicine. Soon, Lisa successfully passes the exam and becomes engaged to Peter. However, Karl's riotous lifestyle requires resources. Karl demands more money from Goldstein.

The year 1939. Life in Kresy goes on lazily, despite more and more frequent news about the coming war. Adolescent peers Zbyszek and Wasylko compete with each other in every field. They are in love with the same girl - Aksinya. Wasylko conspires with Ukrainian nationalists, which forces Antonii to save him from the police. Soon the Germans invade Poland and Antoni is mobilized. Meanwhile, in Breslau, Peter and Lisa are getting married. Goldstein wants to transfer his property to Karl to protect it from confiscation as Jewish property. In return, he asks for help in escaping abroad. Lisa graduates with honors from medicine and takes a full-time position at the clinic. Her first patient in her life has a swastika carved on her back with a knife. This is Goldstein, beaten by militants. Lisa promises the dying man that she will take care of his family and help them escape from the Reich.
Odcinek 6
On September 17, the Soviet Union invades Poland. Red Army commanders urge Ukrainian peasants to take up arms and administer justice to the Polish masters themselves. For Wasylka, it is a chance to stand out and get the position he dreamed of. At night, Zofia is awakened by a pounding on the door. He has a few moments to pack his things and leave the manor. Together with Zbyszek and little twins, she is transported deep into the USSR. A murderous journey in cattle cars begins. Almost 60 years later, Marianna meets Uwe, who helps her read Lisa's handwriting. From them we find out, Karl, happily avoids service at the front. He is appointed to Professor Grundmann's Commission, whose task is to hide the greatest art treasures looted in Poland. Karl is assisted in his work by a young assistant, Maria. Lisa, on the other hand, gives birth to Helenka. He goes to visit Peter stationed with his unit in the garrison town of the General Government. Unfortunately, the meeting does not take place.
Odcinek 7
The murderous journey of displaced Poles deep into the Soviet Union continues. During reloading at the station, Zbyszek is recruited to work by Soviet soldiers. The transport with his mother leaves. Having a chance to escape, Zbyszek decides to abandon Zofia and her siblings. In Bresal, Karl, as before, spends time with his colleagues, now members of the Gestapo. During one of the meetings, he watches a film about the shooting of prisoners sentenced to death. He's shocked at how quickly he got bored of it, even though he knew it was real death. Karl proposes to Maria and is accepted. Soon, however, the city is declared a fortress and called Festung Breslau. Among the works secured by the Grundmann commission there are chests full of gold teeth brought from Auschwitz as a secret Gestapo deposit. Karl, in consultation with the SS, devises a plan to hide gold and works of art of great value in underground caches in the mountains.

Thanks to the help of the former residents of Nowosioł, Paul finds old Aksinia, who is still alive. The woman remembers his family and tells what happened years ago. Then, after many weeks of wandering, half alive Zbyszek returns to his home village. Now ruled by the Soviet occupiers, so the boy has to hide. And Vasylko, who is still raging with jealousy over Aksinia, has the opportunity to give up his brother. However, instead, he threatens to kill him if she ever gets close to him. Meanwhile, in the labor camp, somewhere in Kazakhstan, Zofia fights for her and her twins' survival. However, the fate of her children, as well as many other deported, seems to be sealed. Terrible hunger pushes people to unimaginable deeds. There are cases of cannibalism. The new pop calls Ukrainians to murder their Polish neighbors. Aksinia, risking her own life, comes to warn Zbyszek. But it's too late. A Ukrainian group of men attacks Zofia's old and decrepit parents, whom she brutally murders.

Fela is employed at the House of Two Eagles. She is a Polish woman who is to spy for the Gestapo. However, Lisa quickly makes an understanding with her. Fela helps her take care of little Helenka. One day, a forced evacuation wakes them from their beds. Lisa puts the souvenirs and the diary in a metal box and hides it in the basement. The city is in chaos and panic. People trying to get on the train trample each other. In the confusion, Lisa loses sight of her daughter. She is not among the crowd, nor among the bodies of frozen children lying in front of the station. Lisa finds her after returning home. It was Fela who saved her daughter. Meanwhile, the Red Army enters Breslau.
Odcinek 10
Liski brings Zofia the long-awaited news - he has found her son, Zbyszek. They go to Jelenia Góra, but on the spot, instead of her son, Zofia recognizes the man presented to her... Wasylka. To avoid being discovered, he reaches for his gun, but Liski is faster. Later, Zofia goes to Lviv, she manages to meet Aksinia. The woman says that Zbyszek survived the slaughter but was caught by the UPA. Later, Wasylko got his friends drunk and released him, and Zbyszek gave him his documents in return. Zofia's brother, Maurycy, also survived the Ukrainian slaughter. In an institution for the terminally ill, Zofia meets a completely bald old man without eyebrows and eyelashes. Despite her efforts, Zofia fails to take her brother to Poland. Maurycy, as a Soviet citizen, must live and die in the USSR. Karl Weber arrives in Wrocław. He is already old and, saying goodbye to the world, he would like to stay in the House of Two Eagles once again. When Karl sees young Helena, he immediately recognizes the daughter of his beloved sister.
