Goodbye NY
Now that Donnie and Jenny have purchased their house in Chicago, they need to move out of their New Jersey townhouse. After a whirlwind day of dates to say goodbye to New York City, Jenny worries that Donnie doesn't actually want to move back because he loves their adopted city so much. On top of her stress, the couple must figure out a way to tell Jenny's dad, Macky, that he's not moving in with them in their Chicago home.
Surprise, Surprise
Donnie, Jenny and Evan are in LA to spend some quality family time together before Donnie hits the road with New Kids On the Block for two months. After an emergency call from Donnie's assistant, Johnny, the family heads up to Donnie's Simi Valley house to help pack up for the move to Chicago. Once they've packed the house, Jenny and her sister, Jojo, go on a mission to get Donnie a gift to remember her while he's on the road. Donnie is overwhelmed by Jenny and Evan's going away surprises and relishes in how much his family loves him.
I'll Be There
Donnie and Jenny are in LA for the final week of rehearsals before New Kids On the Block go on tour. Unfortunately Jenny has to go back to Chicago to take Evan for an important doctor's appointment, meaning she'll miss opening night. Donnie confides in his band-mate, Danny, how disappointed he is that Jenny can't make it.
Back to Your Roots
While Donnie is off on tour, Jenny is settling in to the new family home in Chicago. The McCarthy's try to help Jenny decorate the house, but Jenny's indecisiveness makes it hard to get the house together before Donnie returns. Moving in is proving to be more difficult than she thought as old sibling rivalries with her sister, Lynette, re-emerge. Meanwhile on the road, Johnny and Danny hatch a plan to help remind Donnie what it means to be a pop star.
Macky's Big Adventure
After losing another family pet, Macky brings an unwelcome gift of chickens to lift Evan's spirits. Jenny is at her wits end and sends Macky out on tour with Donnie. While Jenny has her hands full teaching Evan about responsibility with the chicks, Donnie gets in over his head as Macky hits on all the fans.
Blending Families
Jenny and Donnie focus on blending their families this week at events that take them all over the country. Jenny and Elijah join Donnie in NYC for a concert at Madison Square Garden, before attending an Autism Gala for Evan. Later that week, Elijah and Evan bond at a local fair in Chicago while Donnie and the other New Kids On The Block revisit their old school where they first performed.
Birthday Blues
The next stop of the NKOTB tour takes Donnie to New Orleans where he reconnects with friend and fellow performer, Big Freedia. While Jenny plans Evan's 13th birthday party back in Chicago, Big Freedia encourages Donnie to do whatever he can to make it back home for Evan's big day. As Donnie tries to make it back in time, Jenny has her hands full when an unexpected injury sends Evan to the hospital.
