La hija de Jacinta ha fallecido en un accidente de tráfico pero no todos los ocupantes del coche murieron en ese trágico impacto. Miguel, su nieto, ha sobrevivido y la gobernanta es ahora su familiar más cercano. El pequeño tendrá que irse a La Laguna Negra, para vivir con una abuela a la que ni siquiera conoce. Mientras tanto, Elsa sigue investigando su pasado. Cree que Jacinta puede tener las respuestas a muchas de sus preguntas pero comprende que, con todo lo que ha sucedido, éste no es el momento de interrogar a la gobernanta. Julia descubre que fue Victoria la que robó el examen y la foto del cuarto de Mateo y no Iván, como todos creen. A Vicky no le queda más remedio que contarle a la nueva sus motivos y juntas investigan si son ciertas sus oscuras sospechas acerca del profesor. En cualquier caso, será el último robo en el cuarto de Mateo, que ha cambiado la cerradura cortando así el acceso de los chicos al desván y a la caja fuerte. Por fin ha llegado el nuevo contacto de Fermín, pero después de lo ocurrido el cocinero ya no se fía de nadie. No piensa volver a poner su vida en peligro confiando en alguien que no conoce. Realiza todas las pruebas necesarias para asegurarse de que el recién llegado es quién dice ser. No es el único que desconfía de todo y de todos. Con todo lo que está pasando, Marcos cada vez está más preocupado por la seguridad de Paula. Por eso, ha decidido marcharse con su hermana a vivir a otro colegio.
