Eilidh Barbour presents highlights from the second round of the Open Championship from Royal Birkdale. It was American Phil Mickelson who led after the second round in 2016 - a two-under-par 69 lifting the American to ten under at Royal Troon. But in a portent of what was to come, a six-under 65 from eventual champion Henrik Stenson left the Swede only one shot behind. Stenson went on to claim the Claret Jug two days later, posting an Open Championship record score of 20-under-par.

Defending champion Henrik Stenson of Sweden moved to the top of the leaderboard at this stage of last year's Open, carding a three-under-par 68 at Royal Troon to go a shot clear of American Phil Mickelson.

Commentary comes from Peter Allis, Ken Brown and Andrew Cotter. Highlights from The Open continue on BBC Two tomorrow night from 2000.

The famous Claret Jug has been won by some of the greatest names in golf - including Seve Ballesteros, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer and Tiger Woods. In recent years, Northern Ireland has produced two Open winners - Darren Clarke in 2011 and Rory McIlroy in 2014, but there has not been an English champion since Sir Nick Faldo in 1992.
