Holby City - Season 21

On a new year road trip to compete for funding, Jac, Ric and Sacha confront some old enemies. Serena's worst fears are realised when a family member becomes her patient.

A surprise blast from the distant past continues to wreak havoc when he returns to Holby. Nicky and Cameron go head to head when Jac offers one of them an opportunity for a promotion. Serena shepherds her flock down on AAU when an old face turns up and upsets the applecart.

Frieda's hard-won contentment is abruptly shattered when Roman reappears. Xavier strains his relationship with Donna thanks to some unsolicited attempts to parent Mia. Ange shoulders the burdens of YAU but seems blinkered as to who might really need help.

When Holby is stretched to breaking point, an angry Ric can't take the status quo any longer. Can Frieda suppress her pain simply by throwing herself into a punishing work schedule? A reluctant Ange considers calling in someone close to help with a difficult patient.

A family secret leads to a young patient delaying vital surgery, Ric campaigns for change, and it remains to be seen whether Nicky has the strength to fight for what she wants.

While Holly's condition weighs heavily on an emotionally invested Ange, Holly's distraught parents must put their differences aside to make a heart-breaking decision.

Zosia returns to Holby looking for work, while a frustrated Jac tries to track down Frieda, and Ange admits there is no hope for her patient, Holly.

Zosia's news gets a mixed response and her situation is further complicated when a colleague from the US turns up. Sacha is rattled when an old flame appears with their partner.

The second of a two-part crossover episode. After a computer virus shuts down the hospital's power, Jac and Connie fight to save friends, and Ric mounts a rescue to help Essie.

The high court gives its judgement on withdrawing care for Ange's patient, and Frieda returns to Darwin, but faces problems when she is paired with Zosia for the day.

As the protesters grow angrier, Holby tightens security - and Fletch realises there may be darker forces at play surrounding Theo's disappearance.

Chloe struggles to decide if staying at Holby is the right thing to do. Dom tries to persuade her, but is thrown off course by a surprise visitor.

A romantic evening doesn't go as planned for Xavier and Donna when his mother arrives, landing Donna in a difficult position.

Dominic faces his difficult past when he goes head to head with his abusive ex, Isaac, while Ange and Carole band together to try to help him.

As Dominic continues to treat Isaac's father, Lofty is determined to protect him, but when Dominic refuses to let him it puts their marriage in doubt and plays into Isaac's hands. A hungover Jac is mortified she can't remember how the previous night ended with Ken, much to Kian's amusement. She eventually gets her answer, but not before having to save Ken's life first.

In the hope of mending Isaac and his father Jon's relationship, Dom makes a risky decision which lands him in hot water. Hanssen finds himself in unfamiliar territory when an estranged relative arrives at Holby begging for his help. And keen for a new start, a revitalised Chloe throws herself into work when she returns.

The manipulative Isaac continues to drive a wedge between Dom and Lofty, but when Isaac puts Lofty in harm's way and the net is closing in, is Isaac's fate sealed?

Good intentions backfire for Cameron when an intervention doesn't go his way, but when faced with an opportunity to protect Chloe, Cameron makes a selfless gesture.

Hanssen must navigate the world of parenting to figure out what's troubling his unusually quiet grandson Oskar.

When a patient attacks Evan, Chloe is forced to make a huge decision. Serena and Fleur Fanshawe are thrown together to help a patient.

As loved ones continue to worry about her, Chloe starts to learn more about Evan. Will she be rocked by more family revelations? Cameron wants to prove himself as a doctor, and get out from under Bernie's shadow, but he receives some devastating news. And Hanssen discovers his grandson is not the only one who believes in the tooth fairy.

Kian struggles to cope with the anniversary of a family tragedy. The only way he can find hope is by vowing that he will save someone's life today. Hanssen fears his family history makes him unfit to raise Oskar, and questions whether nature or nurture will have a greater impact on the boy. Cameron turns down help from Alex as he tries to process a recent revelation, and Serena receives some surprising news.

Chloe desperately tries to convince Evan that their marriage is over as he bombards her with calls, photos and flowers and refuses to take no for an answer. Hanssen is forced to choose between work and family as he prepares for an important operation, and Dominic and Lofty are surprised by the outcome of their relationship counselling, but secrets threaten to tear them apart.

Essie has a shocking encounter with a distressed stranger who claims to know Raf, and plays on her good nature - leading her to make a pact that could change her life for ever. Xav notices Ric making more and more mistakes, and decides to confront him about it. Kian tries to boost Nicky's confidence by giving her a tricky patient to diagnose.

Chloe's day is thrown into chaos when Evan's sister, Phoebe, returns to Holby. Essie is left torn when she is forced to make a difficult decision, and a high profile patient is admitted to AAU, but are things exactly as they seem?

Jac is rocked when Faye Morton returns to Holby bringing Joseph with her. Sacha struggles to do the right thing for a family grieving their mother.

A friendly face from the past gives Ric someone to confide in. Fletch goes on a mission that could cost him his relationship with Ange.

Jac returns from holiday, and asserts her authority over an overworked Kian.

Ric agrees to undergo the dangerous brain surgery proposed by neurosurgeon Max. During the procedure, Ric has visions of his dead son and lost love, who present him with a terrible choice between life and death. A pregnant Helen returns to Holby, and Dom tries to support Lofty as he faces the prospect of fatherhood.

In Holby City's 1,000th episode, a familiar face returns for the hospital's 150th anniversary. Ric is discharged, but is this the last Holby will see of him?

As Elliot's concern for Jac grows, will he ever be able to tell her his secret? Lofty is determined to be there for his new family, but will it be smooth sailing from here? Sacha is conflicted when his feelings for Essie resurface.

A heartbroken Lofty and Helen are rocked by tragic news which tears their world apart. A guilty Xavier evaluates his working relationship with Donna, and are the cards stacked against Jac at Darwin's mortality and morbidity review?

How much will Kian sacrifice to give Bea what she wants? Will Dom and Lofty's grief bring them closer together or rip their marriage apart?

Elliot needs life-saving surgery. Jac is the only one qualified to do it, but will her struggles with anxiety result in her killing her mentor?

Jac has to face some home truths when she is visited by the three wise men, and Chloe gets some life-changing news.
