Time to Tear out that Carpet
Interior designer and host Alison Victoria picks a birthday girl out a large crowd after the young woman claims her carpeted kitchen is as bad as it gets. The green carpet is just the beginning of a long list of issues in this dated, isolated and underutilized kitchen. Alison gets to work, creating a pony wall next to the stairway, eliminating an awkward pantry and pushing the footprint of the kitchen back to create additional space and comfort. She keeps with a traditional yet modern look, bringing in espresso-colored cabinets and light natural-quartz countertops and replacing worn-out green carpeting with oak flooring. Dark-gray wainscoting, crown molding, hand-painted cement tiles and a custom DIY wine rack built out of a shipping pallet add the finishing touches to this classic yet modern kitchen.
