Chic Indoor Picnic Kitchen
Alison is thrilled when she sees this giant kitchen stuck in the 70s the perfect opportunity for a big crash with a fun theme. Alison decides to combine Steve's love for the outdoors and Gizelle's eclectic personality in an indoor picnic inspired kitchen. Where there was once a diner-style dining nook, Alison replaces the oversized table with a picnic table and nature inspired stencil. The footprint of the kitchen is flipped to create a more functional space and to make room for a giant island for prep and entertaining. In keeping with the outdoor feel, Alison brings in white washed wood-like flooring that picks up the colors from the natural brown cabinetry. To add pop, the kitchen is decked out with a bright red range and hand-painted backsplash tile. Alison gets the homeowners involved by silk screening a cloud-like pattern on glass inserts for the pantry cabinetry, covering an accent wall in textured paint to look like the outdoors and refurbishing an old pantry inside of a new cabinet.
