Glowing Countertop Kitchen
Season 5Episode 130 min

Glowing Countertop Kitchen

Alison sets out to turn a mismatched kitchen that's falling apart into a sleek and sophisticated kitchen and dining space that looks like a million bucks. She starts by taking out a useless pony wall to open the kitchen into the dining room and re-designing the layout to create the perfect kitchen work triangle with appliances and cabinetry in optimal locations. Next, she takes on the ugly, cracking, pink and white tile flooring and replaces it with a neutral travertine tile. The dining area is made functional and spa-like with the addition of a DIY custom-built floating bench and light fixture made of coffee filters. Alison replaces the couple's rickety wine cart with a state-of-the-art wine fridge and DIY wine rack, creating an entire wall space for wine storage. And to compliment the espresso horizontal grain cabinets, onyx countertops and backsplash that light up and WOW thanks to built-in LED lighting.

Urban Farmhouse Kitchen
Season 5Episode 330 min

Urban Farmhouse Kitchen

Alison is stumped when she walks into Matt and Anne's hazardous, mismatched kitchen. The layout is all wrong and the finishes are worse. In three days, she overhauls the space - first changing glass doors into windows, moving the sink across the room and eliminating a clunky peninsula to make room for a real dining area. Next, Alison brings in basil colored cabinetry and adds dummy strap hinges for extra style. A dark birch engineered hardwood floor levels out the space and hand-painted tile, sconce lighting and butcher block countertops give the kitchen an urban farmhouse feel. A DIY burlap pin board and repurposed ladder pot rack help the homeowners stay organized in style. And to finish off the look, Alison installs a barn wood accent wall made out of re-claimed wood.

Barn Door Blue Kitchen

Alison and the "Kitchen Crashers" crew find a kitchen that one of the homeowners refers to a series of "band aids". Over the years, problems have been covered in the quickest way possible. So this renovation starts from the bottom with new wood flooring, blue cabinets, and eco-friendly countertops. Next blue patterned wallpaper is added along with a new island which houses a pot rack. And custom features like a sliding barn door, framed cork board and radiator pot rack give the space a unique designer touch. Throw in a few little things like all new appliances, paint and lighting and the homeowners are left stunned, speechless, and really happy.

Thinking Outside The Box
Season 5Episode 630 min

Thinking Outside The Box

Tom and Katey's kitchen has too many straight lines and not enough color. From the cold, white ceramic floor tiles to the dated brown cabinets to the fake beams on the ceiling, nothing flows. An oddly placed peninsula interrupts movement. Their cooktop is failing and their oven is worse. Alison's transformation starts by knocking down a wall separating the kitchen from the dining room. A custom island adds work space and casual seating. White shaker cabinets brighten a dark corner. The focal point of the room is an upscale ocean-blue glass backsplash behind the range hood in oval mosaic pattern. Linear blue glass continues behind the sink, arranged in a simple brick pattern. A formerly unused wall is treated with shallow blue cabinets below a storage unit created from apple crates stained and installed by Tom and Alison. Marble countertops continue the natural, organic feeling. Katey helps Alison create a cornice board covered with cheery floral fabric in blue, green and brown hues.

Bachelor Brothers' Bar
Season 5Episode 730 min

Bachelor Brothers' Bar

Brothers Matt and Jack have lots of friends who like to hang out at their condo. There's plenty of space but a shortage of functionality: a double oven that's rarely used, cabinets that don't open, and an odd layout that separates cooks from guests. In three days Alison transforms a dated design into a bachelor haven. She starts by knocking down a poorly placed divider between the kitchen and living room. A custom wet bar includes a built-in kegorator and soda water dispenser. Dark two-toned cabinets and white granite countertops wrap around the new layout, and a modern range hood doubles as a sleek lighting source. Glass tiles in cream and brown tones pick up the theme. Custom glass shelves add storage. The centerpiece of the new space is a massive bar island with a poured concrete top, built from the ground up by Alison and the brothers. Alison shows Jack how to add interest to a focal wall. Matt and Jack learn how to personalize beer glasses for friends and family.

Mountain Chic
Season 5Episode 930 min

Mountain Chic

Mitch and Maggie recently left the Colorado mountains for a big city condo. Their current kitchen has flimsy, generic cabinets better suited to a garage, and a stove that probably hasn't worked properly since the '70s. Alison starts by knocking down a wall separating the kitchen from a small bedroom. Clever blending creates the perfect color stain for new floorboards installed to patch bare spots created by the wall demolition. Alison literally brings the outdoors in with chunky live-edge shelves and an antler chandelier. Maggie and Alison build a rolling side table from a reclaimed log. Mitch and Alison construct a huge island table entirely from salvaged 2x4s. The focal point of the new dining area is a mural wall with a forest motif. Cream colored cabinets contrast with dark granite countertops, and rubbed bronze hardware gives a warm glow. Matte gray tiles bring a clean, linear look to the backsplash. Extra touches include a pot filler over the stove and a wine cooler in the new bar area.

Wall of Wood Kitchen

Alison and the Kitchen Crashers crew have their work cut out for them in a creepy, old kitchen with nine foot ceilings. The job begins with the complete demo of everything except a few pieces of wallpaper. Then the new stuff starts flying in like wood flooring, white cabinets, paper countertops and an amazing wood wall covering that literally covers every inch of an enormous nine foot tall wall. Then appliances, and all new lighting are added and a few custom touches like trays using the old wallpaper, a step stool, and a hidden vegetable drawer. When this kitchen is finally revealed, the homeowners are speechless with gratitude.

Next, details are added like a custom floating table with metal trough down the middle, paintable wallpaper, new appliances, copper lighting fixtures and a one of a kind knife block using bamboo skewers. Just Enough Bling Kitchen

Alison has her work cut out for her when she sees Barb and Jenny's cramped and outdated kitchen that's bursting with cherry-themed decor. To bring the mother and daughter into the 21st century, Alison creates an open feel by removing the peninsula and adding lighting in the ceiling and cabinets. She gives Barb the bling she was looking for with a new glass drop chandelier, glass mosaic backsplash, stainless appliances, and more. For another elegant touch, Alison and Barb create a unique accent wall using wood and mirrored tile. To finish the space, Alison gets rid of the tiny table and designs a spacious custom dining nook and gorgeous round pedestal table with a silver-leafed top, providing plenty of room for all of their guests to kick back and relax in style. The new floor plan, along with the classy wine bar and built-in TV, give Barb and Jenny the perfect entertaining space they've always wanted.

A Copper Lover's Dream Kitchen
Season 5Episode 1330 min

A Copper Lover's Dream Kitchen

Brendan and Katie's kitchen is way too small to fit their needs, not to mention, Brendan's 6 foot, 5 inch frame barely fits into the space! Alison tackles their space planning dilemma by taking out a main wall between the kitchen and dining area and closing off the original doorway to create a wood framed pass through. Once the space is laid out properly, she brings in ceiling height light veneer cabinetry, large marble subway tile backsplash set behind open shelving, and gray quartz countertops to build the foundation of the kitchen. A wine bar, complete with chalkboard inset cabinet doors, is installed so that Katie can store and label her wine. To fit their stainless steel appliance dreams, Alison gives the homeowners a giant refrigerator, wine fridge, pull out microwave drawer, range and hood. Alison and the homeowners add a personal touch to the build with a copper DIY pot rack and cart to match the copper accents throughout the kitchen. A custom DIY dining bench table and copper bendable chairs give this couple the proper space to dine and entertain.
