Этот простой, но удивительно добротный, грузовик делил с ними трудности и лишения шоферской жизни. Замерзал в сибирской тайге, буксовал на размытой глине, сбивал «дыхание» на высокогорных перевалах. И, вопреки расчетам и логике – вывозил, выручал, справлялся. Задуманный еще до Великой Отечественной войны, ГАЗ-51 продержался на конвейере более 30 лет. А затем, приосанившись, старина «газон» возродился в обновленных моделях «52» и «53». Их общий тираж составил пять с лишним миллионов экземпляров! И вновь главным козырем этих трудяг стала готовность ладить с водителем средней квалификации. Требования времени выдвигали на соискание переходящего звания «Грузовик всея Руси» все новых кандидатов: ГАЗ-4301, УАЗ-3727, БАЗ-3778, «Газель», «Нью-Газон»… Кто из них упустил возможность приобрести всенародную известность, а у кого шансы прославиться весьма велики – расскажет наш фильм.
