1983, Paris region. While Daniel, a young DJ passionate about funk, returns from San Francisco, where he discovered hip-hop culture, two teenagers spend more or less quiet days in a city of Saint-Denis: the discreet Bruno, with a football talent, and the gambler Didier, raised by a violent father. Fascinated by an American dance show on the forecourt of the Trocadéro, Bruno and Didier get closer. Daniel, on the other hand, makes his debut as a DJ in a pirate radio station, determined to introduce the French public to the music of tomorrow...

Grange-aux-Belles
While waiting to find her father, who has abandoned them, she tags the walls of the Olympiads with her friend Dora. She will invent a name for herself: Lady V. Daniel has settled down with Béatrice, who works as a dancer in a hostess bar. He embarked on the recording of his first disc with the means at hand... In Saint-Denis, Bruno and Didier trained in breakdance. Their objective: to enter the Grange-aux-Belles district to challenge the best, such as the arrogant Solo and his crew the Paname City Breakers.

La Chapelle
Daniel has made a name for himself: DJ Dee Nasty. He organizes block parties on the vacant lot of La Chapelle, in Paris. Bruno goes there with his band of graffiti artists. Didier, fleeing his father, joined a troupe of dancers abroad. He returns with the firm intention of conquering the capital, but Bruno reproaches him for his inconstancy. The latter keeps thinking of Lady V, a fly girl with a strong character that he spotted in a report at Bando, an outstanding graffiti artist who comes from the upscale neighborhoods. To get out of the financial mess, Béatrice and Daniel plan to shoot in a porn film...

Globo
1986. Forced by his father, Didier does his military service, where he continues to be insolent. Bruno, now in a relationship with Vivi, alias Lady V, works at Crédit Lyonnais. Didier finds him during his leave. With their band, they spray the initials NTM on the walls of Paris. Daniel plays at Globo at parties that bring together the capital's hip-hop community. Beatrice supports him, but he wants her to stop porn. Bruno and Didier learn that their friend Solo is creating a rap group called Assassin.

Nova
1988. With his sidekick Lionel D, Daniel hosts a program on Radio Nova, the Deenastyle. It's a success, but the money is not there. This creates new tensions with Béatrice. While Vivi plans to form a female rap group, Bruno and Didier, now Kool Shen and Joey Starr, stammer their first songs with their friend Franck, alias DJ S. Franck Chevalier, a friend who works in the fashion world, takes them under his wing. At the instigation of Didier, the NTM go on stage during a collective concert at the Élysée-Montmartre.

Saint-Denis sur Seine
1990. After their appearance on the show Mon Zénith à moi, NTM signed a contract with Epic, the label where Vivi's mother worked. As Didier writes his first check, Vivi struggles to find her place in the group. NTM recorded a first album and discovered the professional side of the industry, before expressing its freedom in a wild concert in Mantes-la-Jolie. Daniel, he lives a new professional disappointment. Only one thing counts for him today: to find Béatrice.
