Birth of a Legend (1)
Ernest Pratt is a down-at-the-heels dime novelist living in San Fransisco when he discovers his character, Nicodemus Legend, is wanted in Colorado for diverting a river. When Pratt finds out his character was co-opted to defend a group of immigrant farmers, Pratt teams with scientist and inventor Janos Bartok to bring Nicodemus Legend to life in order to help.
On original broadcast, Birth of a Legend aired as a pilot movie.

Mr. Pratt Goes to Sheridan
Ernest is forced to move to Sheridan, Colorado by his publisher and take on the role of Nicodemus Legend for publicity. His first case involves the surrender of infamous bank robber, "Gentleman Jim" Siringo.
Legend on His President's Secret Service
Ernest must don his Legend persona to save Ulysses S Grant from an assassination plot by a retired Confederate Colonel.
Custer's Next to Last Stand
Ernest and Bartok help Gen. George Armstrong Custer expose corruption in the War Department.

Wild Bill Hickok comes to Legend for help dealing with the Jack McCall Gang.

Ernest and Janos are trying to stop a gang of cattle rustlers led by a man named Lyle and his brother, Asa. Things are complicated by a stage mother trying to get her son added to the Legend books.
The Gospel According to Legend
Ernest has his hands full when a charlatan comes to Sheridan and turns the townpeople against Janos.
Bone of Contention
A young man gives Janos a dinosaur bone just before he dies, sending the professor and Ernest on a hunt to find the rest of the bones before an oil company stakes claim to the site.

At the behest of his publisher, Nicodemus Legend is forced to lead a buffalo hunt ... and stop the hunters from actually killing any of the buffalo.

Ernest and Janos search for a killer when Pratt is wrongfully accused of murder.

Ernest and Janos return to San Francisco to help a young woman find the family she lost as a child when her parents were killed in an Indian raid.

While photographing scenes for Janos' Zoetrope project, the team finds a skeleton in the desert. When trying to get help finding out who the man was, Ramos discovers a wealthy man stealing Aztec art.
