Lord Garmadon is onboard Destiny's Bounty with the ninja, much to the consternation of the heroes. Lloyd finds that his father no longer has any emotional connection to him or ability to remember the relationship they had forged. Lord Garmadon says that the Oni are using the Realm Crystal, currently housed in Borg Tower, as a means of entering the world and it must be destroyed. Being Oni himself, he is the only one who can do it. Lloyd insists on going with him.

Lord Garmadon and Lloyd fight a losing battle against the Omega Oni. Lloyd shatters the Realm Crystal, but he is too late - the Oni have already made it to the NINJAGO world. Meanwhile, the ninja save NINJAGO citizens threatened by the darkness, but due to an error by Nya, Cole is lost in the cloud of darkness. Back at Borg Tower, Lloyd discovers the Golden Armor and learns that its power can withstand the Oni. Nya tasks Kai with melting down the armor and recasting it. At the Monastery of Spinjitzu, everyone is preparing for the final battle. Kai recreates the Four Golden Weapons which is their last hope in defeating the Oni. Flying in on the Earth Driller, Cole reunites with the ninja to master the weapons. Lloyd gets the idea to form the powerful Tornado of Creation. Side by side, all unite around the plan to conjure their Spinjitzu tornado, including Lord Garmadon. And one by one, the Tornado grows into the Tornado of Creation.
