Tom sets up a date for the shy Lewis and a girl that he met in a clothing store.

Corrupting Chris
Tom's plan to make Chris look less perfect and himself look better by comparison backfires, much to Chris's delight.

Tom Makes a Friend
Tom becomes fast friends with another New Yorker; then their wives meet and there's also a quick reaction.

Awkward Silence
In an effort to bond with his father-in-law, Tom volunteers to play softball; Mary and Chris prepare for a dance competition.

The New Car
When Tom and Susan buy a two-door car, Susan's mom thinks that means Tom doesn't want children.

The Apartment
Susan's upset when she finds out that Tom has kept their Manhattan apartment; the Kellys throw Tom a New York-themed party.

Susan's Secret
When Susan encourages Tom to talk more to her family, she doesn't intend for him to tell them she's tattooed.

A Kelly Carol
Tom and Susan (Breckin Meyer, Kiele Sanchez) spend Christmas Eve at the Kellys' home, where Tom tries to watch his favorite holiday movie on TV, "A Carol Christmas." The family is devoted, with a budget doubled since last year, to finally making the local top ten of Christmas-decorated homes, and since mother Sandy is down on the first Christmas after her mother's death, Mary takes charge!

Tom Doesn't Get It
Susan becomes upset with Tom, but he can't figure out exactly what he did wrong.

Whose Pants Are Smarter?
The competition between Tom and Mary increases when he's asked to speak at her school.

The Contractor
When Tom decides to have a room fit for him to write and be himself in, Susan decides to give the job to Mike Evans, a locally very popular former class mate, once believed the most promising of his year - unfortunately he turns out to be the worst in the business, not even licensed... This episode's plot has a few more surprising twists.

A Portrait of Susan
Tom discovers that his new doctor (Seth Green) has been obsessed with Susan since childhood. He's even ready to dump his new fiance for her, a close copy of Susan, on the spot!

Lewis Turns Twenty-Fun
For Lewis' twenty-first birthday the Kellys plan the usual kid's party in the pizzeria; Mary has coined and even registered the term 'twenty-fun'. Tom convinces Chris that even Lewis must be ready for a more manly celebration at 21, so they first plan a more frat-style evening at a bar. Meanwhile, Mary is green with envy when Susan lands the only job she was ever fired from; hostess.

Double Dating
When Tom finally finds an old male friend in Kansas, Susan matches up Bob with one of her female friends so they can go out as two couples. Meanwhile, Lewis finds money in his tuxedo; Mary and Chris host a fancy dress-up 'Oscar night' by the TV.

Chris and Mary Fight
As Tom is quite happy constantly bickering with Susan, he secretively encourages his docile brother-in-law Chris to stand his ground for once against his ever bossy wife Mary. This leads to Mary staying at their place and showcasing skills neither of them knew she had.

Talk Radio
After he gets an assignment to write an article about his in-laws, Tom appears on a radio show, where he's ambushed by the host (Stephen Tobolowsky). Meanwhile 'baby brother' Lewis is told by his mother, being a major now, he should start buying things himself.

The Other Sister
Susan's sister Lisa (Tinsley Grimes) returns after studying abroad and announces that she intends to quit school to join friends on a site-seeing trip trough Europe and study art history, not nursing or commuting with the car her parents have ready for her. Chris warns Tom in-laws like them have no real vote in family affairs, but Tom tries to enlist everyone to encourage Lisa to stand up for her dream against their parents' expectations.

The Plan
Tom and Susan ponder what to do with his tax refund. Lewis's sleeping is so excessive even his parents feel it's time to force him to get active by charging rent, and he immediately announces his intention to move out, so mom puts dad in the doghouse for the idea. Meanwhile, Chris lost his job and waited over a month to tell Mary.

The Good Son-in-Law
In an attempt to impress the Kellys, Tom has the Kansas City Chiefs' Tony Gonzalez meet him at their house to discuss ghostwriting the football player's autobiography.

Kansas v. Tom's Parents
Tom's parents (Michele Lee, Tony Roberts) visit Kansas to attend the Kellys' anniversary party. Meanwhile, Lewis doesn't know how to tell his parents he wants to move in with his girlfriend.
