Claudia hat bei einem ihrer Besuche im Hause Degenhardt eine 'sensationelle' Neuigkeit zu verkünden: Carsten hat sich von Lydia getrennt. Unbedacht erzählen Anke und Hendrik daraufhin die romantische Geschichte, wie sie sich damals nach der ersten Verliebtheit im Streit getrennt hatten und beim Feuerwerk, der berühmten 'Nacht in Flammen', zufällig von der Menge der Schaulustigen in die Arme des anderen gedrängt wurden, einander küssten und erkannten, dass sie füreinander bestimmt waren... Die herzerwärmende Geschichte nagt an Claudia, und Alex ist nicht weiter überrascht, als Claudia beschließt, auch ihrem Schicksal eine Chance zu geben: Vielleicht liebt Carsten sie ja noch immer? Alex hat allerdings derzeit mit sich selbst genug zu tun, denn schließlich muss sie mit der Neuigkeit fertig werden, dass Daniel die Schule verlässt und nach Dortmund zieht. Auch wenn sie es niemandem, nicht einmal sich selbst gegenüber zugeben würde, irgendwie macht ihr diese Nachricht zu schaffen.
