La Marina convida al David a una important expedició per estudiar un tipus de peix del Mediterrani, i aquest accepta la proposta per no decebre-la. El problema és que el David té pànic a l'aigua i no sap nedar. Desobeint els consells de la Carbonell, assisteix a l'expedició, però quan arriba el moment de bussejar, li entra la por i s'inventa diverses excuses per no llançar-se a l'aigua. Després de diversos intents, decideix tirar-se a terra per fer veure que s'ha quedat paraplègic i han de suspendre l'expedició. Per altra banda, l'Emma ha trobat una nova feina, cobradora del frac, i el seu primer morós a seguir és el Lopes perquè no ha pagat un dels crèdits que té demanats. L'Emma el segueix a tot arreu i el Lopes comença a tornar-se boig a causa de l'estrès que li provoca l'Emma.
