По правилам, в The Floor принимают участие 100 игроков. Они соревнуются в квиз-дуэлях на гигантском светодиодном полу, разделенном на 100 квадратов. Каждое из этих полей представляет разные категории: от «Известных спортсменов» и «Голливудских актеров» до «Культовых зданий» и «Млекопитающих». Участник бросает вызов соседнему сопернику на квиз-дуэль именно в той категории, в которой разбирается лучше всего. Они оба отвечают на вопросы по выбранной теме. Победитель поединка захватывает поле другого игрока. А проигравший выбывает из игры. Участник, который займет все поля, выиграет крупный денежный приз.
