Episode 5
Just four artists remain to battle it out for a place in the Project Icon final. The stakes are raised with the toughest challenge yet as Jason, Frank and Becky task the semi-finalists with taking over the biggest youth station in the UK: BBC Radio 1.
To see how they cope with a triple whammy challenge, each artist is grilled during a radio interview with Radio 1's Future Artist host Jack Saunders. The judges watch on to find out if the artists are capable of bringing listeners into their fan base and selling their brand. Who will impress the judges, and who will land themselves in hot water? Host Jordan North is on hand to give the artists valuable advice along the way.
The pressure mounts to earn a place in the final with a second part of the challenge: performing in the iconic Live Lounge. Under the watchful eye of the judges, the artists must showcase their own versions of hit songs by industry heavyweights: Harry Styles, Dua Lipa, Lizzo and Sam Ryder. It is down to the final four to sell their artistry and prove they have incredible presence whilst also being note perfect.
And to finish off their time at Radio 1, the station's Playlist Team scrutinise each of the artists' original compositions to see if their music has commercial viability for today's airwaves.
Back at Project Icon Studios, the judges must decide which two artists will face the sing-off. With only three spots in the final, it is all to play for, as the artists are in touching distance of a life-changing record deal.
