Allotments
Ranger Hamza and the Ramblers discover how allotments play an important role in the environment. They find out why they are great places to grow fruit and vegetables, explore a compost heap where worms and birds live and spot a water butt which recycles rainwater! On the way, they enjoy the peace and quiet of the allotment, before planting some potatoes!
Dandelions
Ranger Hamza and the Ramblers discover how dandelions play an important role in the environment. They find out how they spread their seeds in all sorts of places, that they have amazing roots called tap roots and learn how bees and other insects love the dandelion's nectar. On the way, they visit a flower shop and help some dandelions find new places to grow by blowing on them!
Acorns
Ranger Hamza and the Ramblers discover how acorns play an important role in the environment. They find out how tiny acorns can grow into giant oak trees that live for hundreds of years and that acorns are a great food source for animals like squirrels who bury them to eat in winter. On the way, they spot a woodpecker's nest in an oak tree and learn that oak trees support more life than any other tree in the UK – all thanks to the tiny acorn!
Wind
Ranger Hamza and the Ramblers discover how the wind plays an important role in the environment. They find out that the wind makes waves on the sea and that it can help boats and birds to travel more quickly. On the way, they spot a washing line with clothes drying in the wind and blow some bubbles to show how the wind helps seeds to grow in new places.
Dead Wood
Ranger Hamza and the Ramblers discover how dead wood plays an important role in the environment. They find out that even though the wood is no longer alive, dead wood is a home for animals, insects, birds and fungi, and learn that dead wood breaks down to give nutrients back to the soil. On the way, they have a game of tag by an upright dead tree called a snag!
Hedges
Ranger Hamza and the Ramblers discover how hedges play an important role in the environment. They find out that hedges are a shelter for all types of animals and insects, and that they can help reduce air and noise pollution. On the way, they look closely at what's living in a hedge, before pretending to be animals looking for a hedge to hide in!
Tides
Ranger Hamza and the Ramblers discover how the tide plays such an important role in the environment. They find out that the tide usually goes in and out twice a day, which keeps our coasts full of life and helps bring food to lots of animals. On the way, they learn that the moon affects the tide, before exploring the beach and looking for tidal treasure!
Puddles
Ranger Hamza and the Ramblers discover how puddles play an important role in the environment. They find out that puddles are part of the water cycle and that they can support birds, animals, insects and plants too. They learn how raindrops and lakes can be a bit like puddles, and on the way, there is plenty of puddle-splashing fun to be had!
Blackbirds
Ranger Hamza and the Ramblers discover how blackbirds play an important role in the environment. They find out that blackbirds can adapt to living in the city by eating what they find and changing their song so it is heard above the city noise. They also learn that blackbirds recycle their nests and help plants grow in new places. On the way, they enjoy a picnic and try to spot blackbirds with their binoculars.
Seaweed
Ranger Hamza and the Ramblers discover how seaweed plays such an important role in the environment. They find out that seaweed can be a shelter for lots of sea creatures, a great place for seabirds to look for food to eat, and that seaweed helps provide some of the oxygen we breathe. On the way, they see what they can spot in a rock pool and have a picnic of some snacks made from seaweed!
City Parks
Ranger Hamza and the Ramblers discover how city parks play such an important role in the environment. They find out that green spaces in cities, like parks, can provide food and shelter for lots of animals and insects, and that parks can help keep cities cool. On the way, they spot an electric tram and have fun playing in the park!

Woodpecker
Ranger Hamza and the Ramblers discover how woodpeckers play such an important role in the environment. They find out that woodpeckers love to eat insects, which helps keep nature in balance, and that some other birds recycle old woodpecker nests to make their own ones. On the way, they try making some woodpecker sounds and discover that green woodpeckers use their long tongues to find ants to eat!
Grasses
Ranger Hamza and the Ramblers discover how grasses play such an important role in the environment. They find out that grasses can be food for animals and some can be turned into ingredients to make food for people too. On the way, they discover how long grass can help shelter small animals and insects, and that cut grass can be useful too, before finding a lovely grassy place to relax and have fun!
Lichen
Ranger Hamza and the Ramblers discover how lichen plays such an important role in the environment. They find out that lichen loves to grow in places where the air is clean, can be used by birds to build nests and be food for insects and animals too. On the way, they take time to enjoy the beautiful nature they see and find something interesting under a log!
Water Lilies
Ranger Hamza and the Ramblers discover how water lilies play such an important role in the environment. They find out that water lilies can provide food for animals and insects that live around water and that the lily pad leaves can help shade creatures in the water from the sun. On the way, they discover that lily pads can also help keep animals like frogs safe and be a great place for them to have a rest!
Caddiesflies
Ranger Hamza and the Ramblers discover how caddisflies play such an important role in the environment. They find out that caddisfly larvae, which are young caddisflies, live in rivers and make shelters for themselves by recycling what they find in the water. On the way, they look for caddisfly larvae in their shelters and learn how they also help keep the river clean!
Ducks
Ranger Hamza and the Ramblers discover how ducks play such an important role in the environment. They find out that ducks can carry seeds on their bodies so that plants find new places to grow and help keep nature in balance by eating slugs and snails. On the way, they discover that ducks recycle their own feathers in their nests to keep their eggs and babies warm and can help keep ponds and wetlands healthy!
Buzzards
Ranger Hamza and the Ramblers discover how buzzards play such an important role in the environment. They find out that they help nature stay in balance and that buzzards living in an area can tell us if it is a healthy habitat. On the way, they spot buzzards flying in the sky and learn that their wings stretch to the height of a Rambler!
