East Anglian Air Ambulance rush to the scene of a serious road traffic collision with a car ploughed into a tree. The casualty needs extraction from the crushed vehicle and urgent attention to potential life-threatening injuries. With no witnesses to the accident, the team piece together the possible cause of events - a call to the shocked husband reveals the family are waiting at home to celebrate her 50th birthday.
Across the country, Wiltshire Air Ambulance are dispatched to a house where a window cleaner has fallen off her ladder. Trapped in a bush for over an hour and in unbearable pain, the team need to urgently relocate a severely dislocated kneecap. In excruciating pain, the casualty requires sedation increasing the risk of her stopping breathing.
For the Kinder Mountain Rescue, a training session turns in to an emergency evacuation when they receive a call out to the highest point in the Peak District - Kinder Scout. Not knowing the full extent of the injuries, they need to reach the casualty, located just below the summit, as quickly as possible. The quickest and easiest evacuation will be to call in the helicopter but, landing on the rocky sloping terrain will be a challenge.
And off the Cumbrian coast, the Maryport Inshore Rescue crew receive a 4am call to locate a broken-down boat 4 miles offshore. But, as they reach the stranded vessel, the sea conditions dramatically change and they're left negotiating two- metre waves in order to get a crew member aboard...
