Season 1
Episodes
Episode 1
Series following people from all walks of life who have switched careers to become police officers with Dyfed Powys police.
After graduating from the classroom, our rookies are sent out to their stations for a three-month tutorship period that sees them paired up with an experienced officer who will teach them everything they need to know about practical policing. After three months, their tutor will decide whether or not they are ready to become a fully fledged police officer.
In this episode, former research scientist Emma gets a tour of her new Llanelli patch with tutor Ash, before taking part in her first drugs warrant.
Ex electrician Gethin tries to impress the chief constable as she visits his new station in Milford Haven, and then teams up with his tutor, Carla, to help a woman whose car has been damaged by a rolling car.
Meanwhile, after being given the traditional rookie job of washing the police van, former charity worker Lisa and her new tutor, Gus, search for a man near Lampeter who has been reported to police for carrying offensive weapons in public.
Episode 2
The rookies get to grips with their new lives at their stations. Dyfed Powys is the largest police force area in England and Wales, covering over 4000 square miles, so there's a lot to get used to.
Glaswegian ex-soldier Stu and his tutor, Potts, initially struggle to communicate with each other, before searching for two dogs reportedly locked in a van on a hot summer's day at Broadhaven beach.
It's Phil's first day at work but he doesn't have any time to get comfortable - he soon faces a dangerous stand-off and looks to make his first ever arrest. Former charity worker Lisa draws on experience from her previous job to try and make sense of a tense situation.
Episode 3
A few weeks into her tutorship, Emma is slowly getting used to life in the force's busiest area - Llanelli. Now, she and her tutor, Ash, search for a suspected knife attacker in Ammanford.
Former golf coach Sam and his tutor, Potts, desperately try to find someone in MIlford Haven who has dialled 999, but then hangs up.
Ex call centre worker Caity and her tutor go out on patrol together for the first time in Aberystwyth and are called to reports of a fight by the pier.
And as Gethin comes to the end of his three month tutorship, his tutor takes time out to give him a pep talk before he goes it alone.
More than the usual arrests and criminal activity, Rookie Cops is a unique opportunity to look deeper into the personalities of these new officers - and to understand what drives someone to give up an established career for their dream of becoming a police officer.
At the station and at home, from their first day to their first arrest, we learn how they feel about their new careers - and about the leap of faith it took them to get here.
Episode 4
In Milford Haven, Stu and Potts try to reunite an elderly lady with her dog after she locks herself out of her house - but they're going to have to improvise.
A newly independent Sam has a bit of an off day and starts to question if policing is really for him. Fortunately, he has moral support from his new friend and fellow rookie, Gethin.
And in Llanelli, Phil and his tutor, Burt discover that some police superstitions aren't as silly as they sound, as they try to discover why a car has been abandoned blocking a suburban street - all under the light of a full moon.

It's Sam's birthday - but before he can have his cake, he's called to a shop where a local woman has been abusing staff and the owner. Sam is determined to track the woman down before she causes any more damage or distress.
Phil and Burt set out to arrest a man who has failed to appear in court. But they soon discover that his crime is much more serious and he must be brought into custody as a top priority.
