Into the Valley
While walking through the woods, sâkowêw discovers a blood-soaked corn husk doll that looks oddly familiar. Suddenly, the doll throws sâkowêw into a disorienting flashback to her childhood, where her grandfather warns her of a changing time.
Friends and Foes
Two surly men bump into sâkowêw at the trading post and Eugenie comes to her rescue before any conflict can escalate. Sâkowêw listens to a wolfer's stories and her interest is piqued when he mentions a great beast with red eyes.
Pooyâw
Captured by two wolfers who recognize her from the trading post, sâkowêw must defend herself and retrieve her belongings. When Bruno hands her the doll, they share a flashback to a grassy plain full of dead bodies and there is a loud roar in the distance.
The Michifs
A delicate new allyship is beginning to form between sâkowêw and Bruno. The two head towards an encampment of wolfers, where sâkowêw hopes to retrieve another doll that is similar to her own. When a distant wolfer threatens them, they team up against him.
Wolfers
Night falls and gunfire breaks out around the wolfer camp, just as sâkowêw arrives. From the tree line, she tries to protect Bruno and is stunned when she turns to see her grandfather. Together, they must return to sâkowêw's childhood village to heal Bruno.
Home
Bruno, sâkowêw and her grandfather head towards the village. On their way, they stop at a graveyard and sâkowêw has one last vision from her childhood that reveals the heartbreaking truth behind her mother's death. Now there is only one thing she can do.
