Episode 1
Some monks become rebels, so soldiers attack the village near the monastery those monks came from. The villagers try to flee while the monks try to protect the village, but in the end, the ones who did survive are taken prisoners and interrogated.
Episode 2
Mu Sang, now Kim Joon, is sentenced to hard labor at the construction site because of his "runaway" slave status and Wol Ah is sent to the Do Bang.

Episode 4
Kim In Joon decides to join the "game" and he is given a crash course on the basics since there's only a day left till it begins. The game starts...
Episode 5
Kim Joon gets badly hurt while competing, but even though the physician has ordered him to stay put, he still wants to stay in the competition.
Episode 6
Kim Joon convinces Song Yi to let him stay in the competition and she does everything she can to help him get through the coming second round.
Episode 7
Episode 8
Third day of the competition. Hapha dismisses his chess-player companion and wishes for Song I to marry before he dies. In the arena, the fight is fierce and unexpected.
Episode 9
Surprising everyone, Kim Jun wishes for Wol A to go back to Ku-Sunim's side but she doesn't want to. Song I's mother suspects a blooming love between the two and wants to help them to get married. Song I's father is invited by his brother to visit him, he knows the danger of going but still goes.
Episode 10
When Choi Woo arrives at his brother's residence the real reason why he wanted Kim Jun to come along is revealed. He wants Kim Jun to join him. Choi Woo's brother also gives Choi Woo a warning. Kim Joon is given his first task as a private soldier. He finds out Wol Ah refuses to leave Do Bang.
Episode 11
Kim Joon finds out his wedding to Wol Ah is being planned. Meanwhile Choi Hang is preparing to attack his older brother before their father dies and Mongol envoys meet the king. Choi U's teacher also comes to the city and he plans to meet him before he leaves.
Episode 12
Park Song Bi realizes what kind of person Gim Jun is. Lord Choe U, defenseless, is attacked and Gim Jun saves him. Hapha is on the verge of dying. War is about to burst between the two brothers.
Episode 13
Choi Woo's brother keeps sending people to bring Choi Woo to assist Hapha's last instants. As war is about to burst between the two brothers, Hapha suddendly becomes healthy again.
Episode 14
The confrontation between the two brothers finally is at its term. Choi Woo manages to gain Hapha's recognition as this latter meets his demise. For they are too successful and lucky : from all sides, hatred and jealousy arises towards Gim Jun and Wol A.
Episode 15
Chun Sim, brokenhearted, plots against Wol A to take revenge. Wedding preparations are all over. Gim Jun and Wol A's but also Song I and Yak Seon's. Hovewer, Song I doesn't want this marriage and makes an unexpected request to Gim Jun.
Episode 16
Wol A is brought to the young master Man Jong. After Song I's warning, Gim Jun desesperatly searches for Wol A, only to find her hours later in an horrible state. Hapha gives his orders : arrest everyone involved.
Episode 17
Song I confesses to her father that she wants Kim Joon for herself. Hapha is so angered, he threatens that if Kim Joon's name comes out of her mouth again it will be his death sentence. Kim Joon is sent to work in another area after Song I's confession.
Episode 18
Song I leaves Do Bang early in the morning with Gim Jun, pretending to go to the temple. She, in fact, wants to run away with Gim Jun, but he refuses to. The two finally go back to Do Bang where Song I is to be married and Gim Jun exiled.
Episode 19
Six years later, Songi is married and has two children but she still dreams of Kim Jun.
Episode 20
The Mongols attack the Cheolju Fortress. Even though the fortress has barely 2.5k men, they are able to withstand the attack of the enemy for a little over ten days. Generals Yi Won Jeung and Yi Hui Jeok, lock their families, and those of the soldiers, in a storeroom and burn it down. One of the generals gives Kim Joon his last order: go back to the capital city and report all he has seen on the front lines. The remaining soldiers of the Cheolju fortress open the gates and attack the Mongols.
Episode 21
Sartai admits he has underestimated the Goryeo soldiers because the Hansijin fortress was defeated so easily. General Kim and Kim Joon plan and execute a 12 men suicide mission to lower the moral of the Mongol troops.
Episode 22
Kim Joon is ordered back to the city, even though the Gwiju fortress is still being attacked. The troop Sartai sends to attack the capital city, burns down all villages and kills all living creatures they find on their way as a warning should they decide to stand their ground and not surrender. They also burn down the Buddhist temple near the city.
Episode 23
Hapha, pressured by the ministers, decides to surrender to avoid an attack on the capital city. Once Kim Joon is back, Hapha makes him his assistant. Emissaries are sent to the Gwiju and Jaju fortresses to convince the generals defending it to surrender. At first both fortresses refused, but Gwiju after receiving a second visit from a member of the royal family raised the white flag to protect the king.
Episode 24
Jaju fortress surrenders after the king's representative pleads with its general. The general is tied up and taken away by the Mongol troops. There's a banquet to welcome the Mongols and celebrate the end of the war. Sartai publicly declares if more generals were like General Kim, they wouldn't have been able to take over Goryeo. Hapha, after seeing how much the commoners are suffering because of the demands made by the Mongols, asks Kim Joon what he thinks.
Episode 25
Hapha comes up with an idea after Kim Joon gives him some advice. He sends Kim Joon with as many men as he needs on a scouting mission to Kanghwa island.
Episode 26
Hapha sends Kim Joon and his men on a mission, but it fails.
Episode 27
Kim Joon takes all responsibility of the outcome of the mission. Because the mission didn't go as planned, Hapha decides to hastily move the capital, even though not all preparations were completed. General Kim follows Kim Joon and sees him meeting with Song Yi. The Mongol army attacks the West Capital.
Episode 28
Kim Joon, Yang Baek and their men prepare to protect the BuInSa temple because it contains the Tripitaka Koreana. There he meets An Shim, Wol Ah's doppelganger. The monk army attacks part of the Mongol Army and Kim Kang kills Salita.
Episode 29
The Mongol army burn the Tripitaka Koreana. Kim Joon is badly injured.
Episode 30
Hapha gives Kim Joon his freedom, but he's not willing to accept it unless Yang Baek and another soldier also receive theirs. Hapha finds out about what his sons have been up to. An Shim and Kim Joon spend more time together. The emperor wants Kim Yak Seon's daughter and the Crown Prince to marry. Song Yi stirs up trouble once more.
Episode 31
Kim Joon suggests remaking the Tripitaka Koreana so it will serve as hope for the people. Kim Joon tells Song Yi he has met a woman he wants to marry when she keeps accosting him.
Episode 32
The Mongols send their envoy once again to pressure Goryo into surrendering and moving the capital out of Kanghwa island.
Episode 33
An Shim becomes Hapha's unofficial concubine. Hapha is seriously considering Kim Joon as his successor in the Do Bang.
Episode 34
Kim Yak Seon find out through his men Kim Joon and An Shim might have had a relationship before she became Hapha's concubine. So, they are going to try and gather evidence of it so they can use against him. Song Yi finds out about this and talk to her husband.
Episode 35
Yang Baek and Song Yi warn Kim Joon of the danger he's putting himself in by not letting go of An Shim because she's now Hapha's woman. The first volumes of the Tripitaka Koreana and reproduced. The Crown Princess is pregnant. Yak Seon changes his mind about using Kim Joon and An Shim's past relationship against him. Park hatches up a plan to save himself from danger. He lies to Song Yi about Yak Seon still wanting to kill Kim Joon and Song Yi blindly listens to him.
Episode 36
Songi is put in a difficult position; Songi's husband realizes that it was Songi who had him framed.
Episode 37
Songi's children beg to see their father before he's executed; the head lady tells Anshim about Songi's feelings for Kim Jun.
Episode 38
The Overlord asks Kim Jun to marry Songi after she's widowed; Songi sits with her husband before his death sentence is carried out.
Episode 39
Songi's informant tells her that Lord Kim's case is being reopened.
Episode 40
The Overlord decides that he must kill Songi by making her drink the poisonous wine.
Episode 41
Kim Jun visits Songi before her death sentence is carried out.
Episode 42
Kim Joon is sent to look for Hapha's successor; he will have to choose between Man Jong and Wan Jong. Hapha sends his grandson, Kim Mi, away because of political differences and to "save" his life.
Episode 43
Kim Joon makes his decision and chooses Man Jong as Hapha's successor. Hapha then decides to send Wan Jong the poisoned wine to avoid any future power struggles. Man Jong returns.
Episode 44
The Overlord gives the throne to his son Choe Hang; Choe reluctantly gives his daughter away to Hang for marriage.
Episode 45
Choe Hang becomes the new master of Do Bang. He causes a lot of trouble, doesn't respect the proper etiquette and everyone is scared of him. His mother-in-law is the only one daring to stand against him but what will it cost her to stand against him when he plans to get rid of all previous candidates who wanted the leadership of Do Bang ?
Episode 46
Yang Baek finds out about Kim Mi's letter to his uncle and wants it. Hapha orders that Oh Sun Jun, his mother-in-law's son, is to be put to death and banishes his grandfather, accusing them both of treason. Lord Jusuk is also condemned. Kim Jun realizes he made a terrible mistake choosing Choi Hang over Man Jong.
Episode 47
Kim Jun begs the Overlord to have mercy on people.
Episode 48
Kim Joon and Yang Baek face off in the tournament. The result of the match strains the relationship between more than before. Seungjok returns, but he is caught and tortured.
Episode 49
Hapha sends poison to his stepmother. She refuses it but then is forced to drink it by Yank Baek. Kim Jun goes and talk with Hapha. He threatens him, reminds him of his vows, even tries to kill him but then surprisingly withdraws. Kim Jun seems to hesitate. Mongols once again declare war to Goryo.
Episode 50
The Mongols seek revenge for Sartai's death and slaves fight for their freedom as soldiers.
Episode 51
Koryo is quickly being torn apart from the inside by the Overlord.
Episode 52
Yangbaek is suspicious of Kim Jun when the Overlord becomes ill.
Episode 53
After the Overlord dies Yangbaek can't bring himself to ally with Kim Jun.

After the emperor dies Kim Jun makes a military reform
