Calvin Richards has the chance to audition for his favorite show, but stage fright and fear of failure get the best of him; his family helps him take that leap of faith toward his destiny.

Beginnings
The competition gets off to a quick start when all contestants are tasked with creating a unique way to introduce themselves to the world; Drea and Jaxon learn about the rules that contestants and their families must follow.

Trust
When another contestant tells Calvin that Sydney and Miles are deceitful, he must overcome his suspicions and learn to trust his new friends as well as his own instincts about how to compete.

Community
As the competition heats up, emotions start to boil over; Miles is on edge; Noah loses patience with Calvin, who thinks Sydney has quit the show because of something he said; Reggie and Drea are missing their friends back home.

Respect
After weeks sequestered in the hotel, Calvin spends time with his family; Calvin is paired with Noah during "Duets Week"; Drea and Reggie take time for themselves, leaving Jaxon alone in the hotel suite.

Growth
During "Folk Music Week," Calvin struggles to connect to music written years before he was born; Reggie tries to teach him the origins of folk music, but it all comes down to whether Calvin can find the meaning in the music for himself.

Loss
Calvin blows up on social media as the press is only interested in him and not the good work of the program, "Take Note Gives Back"; a fight breaks out between Calvin and Sydney, causing them to miss the bus back to the studio.

Sacrifice
During "Mentor Week," Calvin is paired with R&B superstar Will-E, who also came out of the Atlanta music scene; meeting a successful musician of a similar background brings out complicated feelings in Reggie, who is celebrating his 40th birthday.

Acceptance
While Ivy and the remaining contestants prepare, Calvin is back in the hotel room packing; Drea rallies the family to help Calvin cope with being eliminated but he seems to be numb; Calvin is certain that he'll never sing again.

Strength
Calvin is back and social media buzzes at this unprecedented turn of events; even though everyone seems to be against him, with his family behind him, nothing is going to stop Calvin from winning.
