The Adventure Show - Season 16

Season 16
Scotland's thriving adventure sports scene.

Episodes

Episode 1
The Adventure Show is back! Amy Irons joins Duncan McCallum to discover what gravel biking adventures can be found on the forest tracks of the Galloway Forest Park in the south west of Scotland. Adventurer Libby Penman hops the Atlantic to see first hand how New York City is leading the way in providing free outdoor activities.

Episode 2
At over 1000m high, the instantly recognisable Buachaille Etive Mor, in the Highlands of Glen Coe, is the location for the latest edition of the Adventure Show. Amy Irons joins Patrick Winterton as they experience scrambling, the discipline of ascending steep ground with the minimum of basic climbing equipment.

Episode 3
Stretching for almost 100 miles from its source high in the Monadhliath Mountains, the River Spey is one of Scotland's great touring rivers. Amy Irons is joined on the river by Dave Craig, a man with unrivalled knowledge and a deep love gained over 60 years of paddling the course of the river.

Episode 4
The Western Isles provides the location for Amy Irons and Lauren MacCallum to explore the islands of Benbecula and North and South Uist.
Alongside the gruelling annual 200km route that makes up The Heb – Race on the Edge, their adventure sees them exploring this part of the Outer Hebrides on foot, kayak and cycle.
Adventure specialist Chris Moon tells us why outdoor sport provides those with disabilities with the perfect challenge.

Episode 5
Amy Irons joins British Winter Olympian Patrick Winterton on a 20km adventure from the source of the River Etive at Rannoch Moor to its end at Loch Etive.

Episode 6
Karen Darke has climbed El Capitan in Yosemite National Park, canoed in Patagonia, crossed Greenland in a sit-ski, and won Paralympic cycling gold, all since the age of 21, when she was paralysed from below the shoulders following a climbing accident.
Amy Irons joins Karen as she heads out on her new, unique hand-pedalled 'fat trike' to explore the Moray Coast Trail, discovering the opportunities and vistas of one of Scotland's less-visited areas.

Episode 7
Amy Irons is with climbing expert Duncan McCallum as they head outdoors to experience the demands of bouldering.
Solving route problems while traversing a rockface at low level might sound easy, but this sport is growing in popularity. Without the use of ropes, and relying purely on strength and flexibility, this discipline is a real challenge. Bouldering at coastal locations along the Solway Firth provides the perfect backdrop to some intense challenges.

Episode 8
The highest point in the Outer Hebrides is the Corbett of Clisham, on the island of Harris, and it is the final destination for Amy Irons and her hiking partner Lauren MacCallum.
