DI Neil Manson orders PCs Tony Stamp and Lance Powell to stay out of the wreckage of the pub where the bomb has gone off while he summons help. When Stamp realises Supt. Okaro is still inside, he risks his life to rescue the Super, and manages to save him in the nick of time. Unaware of the chaos nearby, DC Rob Thatcher slips another racist hate letter into Okaro's internal mail. When it looks like Okaro was the bomb's intended target, Thatcher and Jerome Taylor realise their letter campaign could be their undoing when SO13 (the Anti-Terrorist Branch) investigate. Thatcher discovers CCTV footage of on of the Radford boys near the pub at the time of the explosion, and he follows the Radfords into a trap. DCI Jack Meadows takes charge when his baby with Rachel Heath is kidnapped by a religious fanatic, but when the baby is recovered, Meadows is alarmed to find Rachel doesn't want him involved in their lives.
