Lanzarote

After arriving in Lanzarote at her hotel in the popular resort of Costa Teguise, Jane immediately heads out to visit the Jameos del Agua caves, the underground volcanic tunnels that artist and architect Cesar Manrique turned into a form of art installation. She visits the caves with island regulars Richard and Jo, and they look at the underwater lagoon, outside pool and ampitheatre.
Jane has a pottery lesson with artisan master potter Juan, learning how to make small bowls in the traditional way used over hundreds of years.
Jane reads about a popular attraction in Playa Blanca called ‘the spoon in concrete' where holiday makers and locals visit a spoon that's become entombed in the concrete. Jane goes to see it for herself but the spoon has been taken and a local vlogger is making a news report about it. Jane heads for a drink with fellow spoon searchers Mark and Jude and finds out about other things to do on the island.
Jane heads out with old friend Terri to Timanfaya National Park where eats chicken cooked by the heat of the volcano and then drinks the local wine.
Jane visits the small town of Teguise, the former capital, hears a timple being played, sees how it's made and also has a go at palo canario, the old way of stick fighting. She ends her visit with a sea swimming lesson with coach Paul, who works with Jane on her technique.
