The Island with Bear Grylls - Season 3
Season 3
Episodes
Episode 1
The two groups swim ashore to face a storm and a life-or-death search for water. A row breaks out with the men, while one of the women sees something that makes her suspect they may not be alone.
Episode 2
In this episode, the men and women have been marooned for almost a week. Following an emotional meeting on the beach, the two groups unite. The women feed the starving men from their supply of yucca, while the men stop the women drinking water from a stagnant lagoon. But both groups have dissenters who would rather the men and women remained apart. Iraq veteran Hannah, an amputee, attempts to unite and motivate. But as a vicious tropical storm rolls in, the deafening thunder and lightning have a devastating effect on her, and the fledgling community is left reeling.
Episode 3
The islanders have been marooned for ten days on their deserted island with barely anything to eat. Faced with starvation, one of the group wants to leave. Rob leads the desperate search for food, but their attempts to fish and hunt come to nothing and they find themselves taking increasingly terrifying risks. Rob bravely leads a group of the strongest swimmers into the sea to set a fishing net in the perilous deep water, but they quickly get into trouble. Most of the swimmers make it back to shore, but the men and women are left in crisis when they realise Rob is nowhere to be seen.
Episode 4
Despite their previous success with catching a shark, the search for food continues for the remaining castaways. As hunger and exhaustion sets in, singletons Patrick and Sarah seek comfort in each other while the rest of the men and women start to fall apart - including an explosive row between two of the women. Dan leads an expedition to the other side of the island, but Sarah struggles on the rocky coastline. With a storm coming in and huge waves crashing against the cliffs, they face a race against time to get to safety and avoid being cut off by the incoming tide. Dan must make a difficult decision: do they turn back or risk their lives crossing one last perilous set of rocks?
Episode 5
Following Patrick's horrifying fall, the Island is in crisis. Dr Dan's expedition party is now trapped in a tiny cove, with a tropical storm on the way. When the safety team arrive to evacuate Patrick, they find the stormy sea too rough to land their boat. The only escape route is a perilous climb back up the cliffs. Back at camp, the need for food is more urgent than ever. So far the men have dominated the hunting, with little success and Elliot desperate for a big kill. But barmaid Tilly yearns to get more involved.
Episode 6
Despite being marooned for a month, the men and women on the Island are barely managing to survive. Without a sustainable food source and insufficient shelter to protect them from the brutal tropical storms, the Islanders are on the brink of disaster as their bodies start to fail. In desperation, the women muster the energy to make one last push to look for food; and Simon leads a hunt into the jungle for the most dangerous predator on the island: the caiman crocodile. When Bear arrives to collect them, will they be thriving, or just surviving? Surviving the Isand with Bear Grylls is on tomorrow night.
Surviving the Island
In this special episode, Bear Grylls takes an in-depth look at how the castaways survived in the latest series of The Island with Bear Grylls. Completely alone, filming everything themselves, with only a handful of basic tools and the clothes they stood up in, Bear's eight men and eight women not only had to survive five gruelling weeks in a vicious tropical storm season, they also had to cope with food being particularly scarce due to the uncertainty of fishing stock caused by the El Nino weather system. Bear returns to meet the men and women who made it through the experiment and sees first-hand how they managed to survive - as individuals and as part of a mixed sex group. He hears their reflections on their time on the island and shares his thoughts on how they coped with the extremes.
