Li Er has a crush on the handsome and outstanding school senior Xu Yi, but Xu Yi is attracted to Li Bala, who has a distinct personality. Li Er becomes friends with Bala by chance, and also learns that Bala's pursuit of Xu Yi is related to Xu Yi's close friend, Zhang Yang. After graduation, the various protagonists embark on their own paths in life: Zhang Yang is admitted to Beijing University as he wished; Xu Yi goes to Shanghai to study at a vocational college; Jiang Jiao, who has always been determined to become a celebrity, begins to pursue her dream; But Bala passes away unexpectedly, forever remaining in everyone's memories. Zhang Yang has always harbored intense guilt towards Xu Yi, so he extends a helping hand to him whenever he can, hoping that Xu Yi will pick himself up. The following year, Li Er goes to Shanghai and has a brief relationship with Xu Yi, but they eventually break up. Zhang Yang and Li Er reunite twice during the Wenchuan earthquake and the Olympics, and having matured, the two gain a new understanding of each other and fall in love. Xu Yi meets a girl named Xia Mimi and finally bounces back. With the passage of time and maturing from their experiences, the various young people eventually support each other in emerging from the pain and difficulties of their youths.
