Episode 1
In Hampshire, first-time mum Beans, a Hungarian vizsla, gives birth to 12 healthy puppies and an unlucky 13th, Gilbert, who faces a challenge to get its legs working. Meanwhile, in Worcestershire, golden retriever mum Scarlett is rushed to the vets for an emergency Caesarean, at which 11 little puppies are whipped out.

Episode 2
A showdog gives birth to four puppies, and the owners assess their potential for following in their mother's footsteps. The two smallest members of a litter of Mexican hairless hounds struggle to cope with being cooped up in their Peterborough home, a cockapoo tries to befriend a new housemate, and a rescue collie has a first encounter with sheep.

Episode 3
Hungarian vizsla pup Gilbert needs hydrotherapy to help with a leg condition. Newfoundland pup Barley is being trained as a rescue dog, but she isn't keen on water. A litter of labs are all being trained as assistance dogs, while a litter of wolf-like tamaskans could do with their ancestors' courage on the farm.

Hero Hounds
A litter of Dobermans learns the laws of physics with an introduction to gravity, while budding assistance dog Pippa faces her first assessment and an encounter with a vacuum cleaner. Barley the Newfoundland pup learns to swim, and despite being initially reluctant, she soon discovers her breed's innate ability in the water.

Homeward Bound
Rocky the golden retriever moves in with a young family in the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire, and has to learn to curb his excitement when playing with the children. Trucker the Belgian shepherd also moves to a new home full of older dogs - some with experience of police work - while George the Doberman meets his new room-mate, Fudge the Chihuahua.
