Far across the universe, a fierce battle rages on the distant planet of Cybertron. There, the heroic Autobots and evil Decepticons clash over a set of robots called the Mini-Cons, whose power can enhance a Transformer's abilities in battle. Realizing that the battle for the Mini-Cons was proving too costly, the Transformers sent the Mini-Cons away from Cybertron in a large vessel, but when the vessel crash lands on a remote planet, it sets off a chain of events that ultimately leads to the heated rivalry between the Autobots and Decepticons being contested on Earth.Once on Earth, the battle for the Mini-Cons begins anew, with the Autobots gaining new human allies in their quest to locate all the valuable "Smart tools" before the Decepticons can use their power to achieve dominion over the galaxy...but as the battle rages, a greater evil lurks in the shadows, the giant planet-killer Unicron...
