"Battling" er en spesiell form for rapp-konkurranse mellom en eller flere deltakere. Poenget er å fremføre en selvforfattet tekst, gjerne om et oppgitt tema, til en bestemt rytme. Man konkurrerer om å ha de beste rimene og de beste poengene. Ole Hamre er ikke som flypassasjerer flest. Han synes at kabinpersonalets opplesning av sikkerhetsinstruksene er som musikk i ørene – bokstavelig talt. Hamre jobber med å identifisere musikalske uttrykk i ordinær tale. Fugler kommuniserer med et utall forskjellige lyder. For de fleste mennesker er det komplett uforståelig, men kanskje det går an å finne ut mer om hva de egentlig mener? Petter Schjerven blir med to entusiastiske ornitologer ut i skogen. Energi og strategi er to vanlige og flittig benyttede ord. Men hva er korrekt uttale; skal det være med "g"-lyd eller med "sj-"-lyd. Folket er splittet og usikkerheten råder.
