The Exploding Car
Rowdy youths visiting from Devon are terrorizing St Gweap and when their car - registration number KNOB 1 - is found burnt out outside the pub Alan interviews several of the villagers who have had run-ins with the boys and who could be the culprit.
Magical Horses
Three beautiful white horses suddenly appear in St Gweak and Old Jake, assisted by Harry, makes money out of tourists by advertising them as the 'Mystery Horses' and doing them up like unicorns until the police stop them and the owner arrives. Angela becomes obsessed with literature, briefly forcing every customer to read a book until she accepts that she is scaring them off, whilst Mary becomes obsessed with Alan, who agrees to date her whilst on the rebound from Holly.
Angela Learns to Drive
Angela's father is due to visit and she has promised to drive him around Cornwall. However she has never driven before so she persuades other villagers to teach her, which does not always go well, especially when she drives Jeff's car over a cliff. Fortunately she passes her test in time but, being over-tired from practicing, runs her father over.
Cornish Flu
The villagers start to go down with the Cornish flu, which sends them into fits of delirium before they pass out. Only Mary and Angela appear to be immune, which means that, with an influx of tourists, they are not only running the shop but the pub and the witchcraft centre but taking visitors around the bay in Old Jake's boat, the latter with disastrous results.
The Film Crew
A TV crew comes to the village to film 'Lost!', a drama serial, and Mary blackmails the producer into giving her and Angela parts in it. However they are both rubbish and ultimately learn that the camera was not switched on to film them. Revenge follows as a delivery van careers down the streets, destroying all the crew's equipment. Old Jake is approached by Victoria, his daughter from a holiday romance with her mother, but he feels unable to communicate and takes a crash course in parenthood from the other villagers.
Holly Loses Faith in Witchcraft
Angela has a boyfriend called Archie but he is a layabout who exploits her and Mary agrees she will split up with Alan if Angela dumps Archie - which Angela does though Mary and Alan are only pretending. Holly is feeling depressed by her unmarried status and losing faith in witchcraft so the other villagers buy cures from her to cheer her up. Mary throws a party to celebrate the fact that she and Angela have been running the shop together for fifteen years and takes the opportunity to ask Alan to go out with her again but he declines as he is now dating Holly.
