Private Dining Patio
These Nashville homeowners have no idea how to tackle their steep yard until Matt finds them and transforms the space into a traditional English garden. He gives them privacy by building a lattice fence alongside the public pathway, then levels the yard and lays a stone patio complete with sitting walls and a fire pit. He adds an outdoor barbecue faced with reclaimed Tennessee wood and refinishes their dilapidated deck. Finally, he adds manicured hedges, trees and gravel pathways.
Modern Zen Fusion
These professional homeowners are dismayed with what to do with their empty yard. Matt transforms it into a modern fusion of art and Asian style with a redwood pergola with slanted louvers for optimal shade, a one-of-a-kind outdoor kitchen, and salvaged tree timbers flooring. A relaxing fire pit area, which includes a custom metal water feature, and a meditative Zen rock garden with large boulders, gravel and a special Zen garden rake complete the transformation.
Modern Urban Oasis
These restaurateurs are overwhelmed with their overgrown tiny space until Matt and his crew come to their rescue. He helps to make this tiny unusable space functional with a redwood retractable dining table, a modern shear decent water feature, and floating wooden benches surrounded by dense plantings. An old vintage cabinet is modified into a rolling wet bar. And lastly, the yards entire patio gets a modern look using large vertical pavers with decorative gravel between the joints.
Beach Resort Backyard
These roommates are tired of their boring yard that's bare except for a hammock. They're looking for an fun yard that reflects their personalities and Matt and his crew deliver! He elongates the sad patio pad by building a wood deck over it. He improves the flow of the yard by adding a palapa as the gathering space and a hanging bed as the relaxing area. A ledge stone water wall is added for tranquility and a bamboo privacy screen is built to hide the massive A/C unit. Finally, lush plants, sod and gravel pathways are added to complete the look of this upscale beachy backyard.
Modern Heavy Metal
These homeowners have no space in the backyard to call their own until Matt converts this neglected pre-school into a modern heavy metal adult lounge. He builds a unique metal frame BBQ island with a cascading limestone waterfall countertop, a redwood tree surround with attached rain gutters as planters and hanging from on the base is metal art frames. Finally, a concrete fire pit is surrounded by a beautiful redwood deck with resin outdoor furniture, a wood and metal privacy wall and colorful plants.
Open and Airy Sanctuary
These two veterinarians have ignored their backyard due to an expansive home remodel and it's become cluttered and overgrown. Matt comes in and cleans it out, trims it back, and builds an organized space for entertaining. He adds a large paver patio with a metal fire feature and a new barbecue with a metal prep island. Because the yard sits right on the city's bike path, he also builds a bike barn using wood and rusted steel, for bike storage. Finally, he adds painted corrugated metal to the fences for a more contemporary look.
Charming Southern Retreat
A large overgrown tree in the middle of these homeowners' backyard makes this space unusable. Matt and his team Crash into the yard like a Texas stampede to clear out the space and start anew. First up, an extra-large cedar pergola skirted by a curvy deck brings back major style and function to this neglected yard. The homeowners' love of outdoor cooking inspires Matt to roll in a massive Texas style smoker framed by arbors defining a more upscale entrance to the space. Additional entertaining space comes in the form of a new decomposed flagstone patio and bench seating made from pavers with a fire pit as a focal point. The landscaping intervention finishes off with lush native Texas grasses, annual plants for color and an edible container garden outlining the yard.
Eclectic Dining Space
This Houston couples' back yard is a barren wasteland, the only ones who venture out there are their two dogs. With the mild climate, this couple yearns for a space to entertain and dine outside, but want it to reflect their funky personalities. Matt takes the challenge and delivers an elegant space with eclectic overtones. He adds a 500 square foot paver patio with cedar pergola and a multicolor wood burning fire place. He drops glass pendants from cedar posts over a huge cedar table topped with zinc and adds artificial turf and bamboo around the perimeter for privacy.
Rustic in the Redwoods
This Sierra foothills yard is plain and boring and doesn't reflect the beautiful environment around it. So Matt transforms it to reflect its surroundings by building a redwood deck and pergola with cooking space and a dining area. He adds a custom fire pit and water feature along with veggie boxes and redwood trees set along a rustic metal and slat fence. A unique tin wall provides a colorful pop and a meandering path encircles the entire space.
Outdoor Movie Lounge
This deserted backyard is converted into a modern outdoor theater with the help of Matt and his team. The crew builds a custom entertainment bar with a black granite countertop, a new salt finish concrete patio, a large outdoor movie screen, and a massive rain curtain water feature with large unique fire bowls and metal pedestals. Large privacy plants surround the yard with a one-of-a kind metal retaining wall. Comfy outdoor furniture and a movie theater style popcorn machine set the stage.
Barn Meets Backyard
This couple's small yard desperately needs Matt's help. Their dogs have taken it over & the space has become a dumping ground. Matt clears everything out then builds a raised deck off the back door with a barn inspired metal privacy screen complete with planted horse troughs, stairs down to a concrete patio with shade structure and space for a barbecue, dining area and kegorator. These motorcycle enthusiasts also receive a one of a kind water feature. Finally, a separate deck ramp & dog run are added to separate the pets from the people.
Modern Dart Den
An underused outdoor storage unit becomes a useable outdoor game room with modern wall treatment and custom pipe and wood furniture. Matt and crew also deliver with a granite countertop bar and stainless steel grill inside a ledge stone faced base and a copper water trough. On the opposite side of the grill is a functional copper ice bucket for beverages. Finally, tall evergreen shrubs create a full privacy screen.
Vintage Hillside
A back yard with an ugly steep hillside gets some character when a pergola topped with laser cut metal panels is added, along with an elevated patio that houses a vintage inspired fire pit. In addition, the desolate hill is transformed into a lush area with large trees, grasses and colorful annuals. A water fall cascades down the hillside from a couple antique oil jugs and a dining area and new smoker with custom surround are added.
