A wealthy businesswoman, Valentina Trunova, was found maimed and raped in her own home. In the same dacha village, another rape was committed, the victim of which was the young Diana Sysoeva, the wife of retired general Grigory Sysoev, personal belongings were stolen from their homes. Suspicion falls on the locksmith Ogureyev, who installed new locks in the houses of the Sysoevs and Trunovs on the eve of both crimes - they find stolen things from him. But the investigation establishes the personal motive of Edward, Valentina's husband - in the event of the death of his wife, he receives all of her fortune.
