Episodes
Camping
The gang visit a campsite to celebrate Trevor's birthday. John and Maureen are in a top of the range Winnebago, Trevor and Carol in Trevor's beloved caravan and Alan and Joyce in a leaky two-man tent.
The boys get into trouble, thanks to Alan, on a charity bike ride and Trevor's plans of upgrading the caravan are put on hold, much to Carol's relief.
Meanwhile, the girls meet a handsome young Swede with a penchant for older ladies, but find out he's not as good as he looks.
Matt & Seb
Alan's in mid loft clear-out, having hired a skip for the purpose, when new couple Matt and Seb pop by to invite them to their housewarming party that night. Despite Alan's natural inclination to say no to a social invitation, Joyce is keen to be welcoming to the new neighbours so accepts on their behalf.
The party is in full flow when our gang arrive. John - having confessed to Alan that he's catnip to gay men - instead immediately attracts the attentions of Matt and Seb's house dog Becks, much to Alan's amusement. Carol's keen to leave early as she and Trevor are coming to the end of a period of sexual lent, which has raised Trevor's anxiety levels to an all time high. Maureen's just excited to be at a 'real gay party' - she used to be a regular at all the clubs back in the day - but Joyce has told her to keep a lid on it, as she doesn't want anyone thinking they're old fogies with outdated notions 'of the gay scene'.
Meanwhile, Alan's spotted one of Joyce's old bedside tables that he had recently thrown out and thinks his hosts have stolen it, which they deny. Unconvinced, Alan tells John he's going to steal it back and enlists his help. But it turns out nicking your own stuff back off your neighbours is more complicated than you might think.
Naming Ceremony
The couples are off to the naming ceremony of Alan and Joyce's first granddaughter Scarlett. Joyce thinks her daughter-in-law Suze is deliberately keeping her away from the baby so suggests to Alan that he give the young couple money as a gesture of support.
Carol is buoyant about her latest venture, an erotic novel she's writing as part of a new creative writing course she's taking, although Trevor is more than a little concerned about where some of her inspiration is coming from.
Meanwhile, John and Maureen have Vaughan, Suze's father, in their sights, as he's a member of an exclusive boat club, but it turns out he and his wife Sally may be willing to give them more than just a recommendation.
Joyce eventually gets the pictures she wants of her and baby Scarlett but in doing so may have jeopardised her relationship with Suze even further. Carol strikes up an unlikely alliance with Sally and Vaughan who want to talk about crowdfunding her novel. They invite her and Trevor to stay over and take the discussion to the next level.
Mick's Return
Having separated from his younger wife Elena, Mick returns to Alan and Joyce's, parking on their drive in his large campervan. Alan has a new job, with a manager who is clearly out to get him. Mick tells him not to stand for it and he quits. At the local fete Trevor is in a quandary as he has got a diary clash, having promised to be a clown at the same time as run the tombola for Carol. Alan comes up with a solution - do both! Meanwhile, Mick has put the fear into John about their routine relationship. Mick suggests role play, so John suggests it to Maureen.
Murder Mystery
It's John's birthday and he has decided to do something different this year - a murder mystery party, where all the couples have to come in fancy dress as characters in the mystery. Soon, however, there is a real life mystery: is it Maureen or her alter ego Lady Greystoke that's having an affair? Will Alan's success at re-gifting eventually come back to haunt him? And who is the exotic-sounding 'Diego'? John just wants someone to take the game seriously.
Wedding
Maureen's mum Joan drops a bombshell - she's getting married and Roy, her new husband-to-be, is 20 years younger than her. The three couples gather at the very grand hotel for the wedding. As an impromptu stag do, Roy decides he wants them to sample the spa - much to Alan's dismay. Joyce and Carol are concerned and ask Maureen if she's checked Roy out. Is Maureen sure he's not after Joan's money?
