Joining in on the discussion is Dr. Daniel Amen, a renowned brain specialist and psychiatrist, who says the medical community believes "Shaken Baby Syndrome" is real. And Loni Coombs, Anchor on News on Merit Street and former Los Angeles prosecutor, believes Roberson may not have received a fair trial since the medical experts who examined Roberson's daughter only saw "Shaken Baby Syndrome" as a possible reason for her death.

Robert Roberson is less than 48 hours away from being executed for capital murder in Texas for the 2002 death of his 2-year-old daughter, Nikki. Roberson was convicted based on a diagnosis of "Shaken Baby syndrome." However, advocates, including Robert's attorney Gretchen Sween, forensic legal specialist Kate Judson, and Jason Flom, founding board member of Innocence Project, argue that Nikki's death diagnosis is questionable and could have contributed to a wrongful conviction for Robert. Dr Phil continues his conversation with them from yesterday, along with Loni Combs, News on Merit Street anchor and former Los Angeles prosecutor, who says Robert's daughter's doctors had tunnel vision about her cause of death. Also joining the conversation is Dr. Daniel Amen who says "Shaken Baby Syndrome" is a legitimate diagnosis. Texas Representative Lacey Hull joins virtually and says Robert should not be put to death. Finally, Dr. Phil heads to Polunsky Unit in Livingston, Texas, to meet Robert in person. Find out what Dr. Phil learned about Robert and if Dr. Phil believes Robert got a fair trial.

Smuggler's Highway: Southern Border's Escape Route
This border situation has become a political powder keg, with both sides of the aisle using it as ammunition in this upcoming election in just a few weeks. But tonight, we're focusing on the Arizona border. With 378 miles of shared border with Mexico, divided into the Tucson and Yuma sectors, Arizona has become a hotspot for illegal crossings. The "gotaways" are people who slip past our Border Patrol without getting caught. In the fiscal year 2023, Arizona had more than 775,000 illegal border crossers, and at least 200,000 were "gotaways". There is a stretch of road called "Smuggler's Highway," which is a remote, treacherous stretch of desert where temperatures can soar to a blistering 118 degrees. Smugglers are leading migrants through this hellish terrain, putting lives at risk and overwhelming our Border Patrol agents. And if that weren't bad enough, the cartels are getting crafty in Arizona. They're using social media to recruit American teenagers to be their drug or human mules. Dr. Phil meets up with Sheriff Mark Lamb, who offers to take him on a "drive-along" on that stretch of road where high-speed chases happen every day, putting everyone on the road at risk. And sometimes, it ends tragically. Take the story of Wanda Sitoski. Her daughter, Valarie, sits down with Dr. Phil to talk about how her mother's life was cut short when a 16-year-old American smuggler running from the law crashed right into her…killing her instantly. Plus, our camera crew goes on a dangerous chase with Sheriff Dannels's interdiction team.
Smuggler's Highway: Got-Aways At The Southern Border
We are just a few days away from the 2024 election, and there's one topic that's got everyone from Washington to Main Street talking…the border crisis. Both sides agree that work needs to be done to secure our southern border. Dr. Phil first heads to Arizona to find out why there is a super-highway for illegal crossings down there. It's been nicknamed the "Smuggler's Highway," …right on Interstate 10, which runs through California and Arizona. It's become the most popular route for smugglers from Mexico. But Sheriff's deputies in Pinal County say it isn't just cartels smuggling migrants…it's American teenagers. Right in the thick of it all, Sheriff Mark Lamb says the drugs and people being trafficked through this "highway" are ending up in cities all across America. In fiscal year 2023 alone, Arizona had more than 775,000 illegal border crossers. That's a whole lot of people slipping through the cracks. Sheriff Lamb tells Dr. Phil how he attempts to wrangle this situation. Plus, Cochise County Sheriff Mark Dannels tells Dr. Phil that in the last 31 months, there have been 500 to 600 pursuits coming through his rural county. Dr. Phil talks to the Vice President of the Border Agent Council, Art Del Cueto, who says the media is not reporting much about Arizona's border issues. Art says he has solutions if anyone would listen. We head to Eagle Pass, Texas where Dr. Phil spoke to several people working on the front lines. He asked them THE hard questions that you won't see anywhere else. And US Southern Border Expert Jason Jones says human trafficking at the border is the largest US intelligence failure since 9-11. If you are looking for answers to your questions about the border, this episode has the answers.

Where's The Pork? Outrageous Government Spending
Dr. Phil takes a hard-hitting look at the outrageous and often ludicrous spending of your tax dollars by our government. With national debt exceeding $34 trillion, the government's spending habits seem more reckless than ever, including $2.7 million on cats running on treadmills and $1.8 million on monkeys gambling. These examples are just a few of the questionable expenditures adding up to trillions of dollars, money that comes directly from the pockets of everyday Americans like you—small business owners, government employees, and hardworking citizens. Dr. Phil is joined by Tareka, a small business owner who says she needs money from the government to continue but can't get it, and Venisi, a three-time combat veteran who says that despite his service to the country, he could not secure a loan for his small business. Also weighing in is Dr. Monica Crowley, Ph.D., former Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Public Affairs, who warns against social programs and small business spending as a threat to the nation's future, and Adam Andrzejewsk, a government watchdog who says the government needs to be held accountable for every penny it spends. Additionally, we hear from Ginger, a military spouse forced to rely on food banks during the government shutdown, and Calvin, a long-time government employee burdened by inefficient mandated purchasing practices. Robert Roberson: Execution on Hold
With his execution halted, will Robert Roberson finally have a chance at justice as new evidence, legislative allies, and a growing public outcry push for a retrial?
Robert Roberson, who was set to be executed on October 17, 2024, for the 2002 death of his 2-year-old daughter Nikki, was granted a last-minute stay by the Texas Supreme Court. This unexpected reprieve followed a subpoena from Texas lawmakers requesting Roberson's testimony before the House Criminal Justice Committee. Roberson's conviction heavily relied on the now-disputed "shaken baby syndrome" diagnosis, but new evidence suggests Nikki's death may have resulted from natural causes, like pneumonia. Both the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles and the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals previously declined to intervene, and the Supreme Court's decision has sparked debate over the balance of power between Texas's legislative and judicial branches. The case has drawn national attention, bolstered by support from Dr. Phil, who testified before the Texas Legislature on Roberson's behalf. The debate has also reignited scrutiny of forensic evidence standards and Texas's 2013 "junk science" law as lawmakers and courts reconsider Roberson's fate. Dr. Phil speaks with Terre, a 2003 juror from Roberson's trial who now believes in his innocence, stating she wasn't presented with all the evidence. Roberson's attorney, Gretchen Sween, insists that, despite opposition from the Attorney General's office, he deserves a new trial. In support, Representatives Joe Moody (D), Lacey Hull (R), and Brian Harrison (R) have joined forces in a bipartisan coalition advocating for clemency and a retrial. Former Los Angeles prosecutor and news anchor Loni Coombs argues that if the Attorney General is confident in Roberson's guilt, they should welcome a retrial to resolve lingering doubts once and for all.
