Episode 7
A reconciliation between Chloe and Cameron seems unlikely after the previous night's events, but nevertheless, he decides to make a bold move to win back her trust. A familiar face returns to Holby to perform surgery on Carole, and Dominic finds a much-needed source of moral support as he waits for the outcome. Jac makes plans for her first unsupervised visit from Emma, but things soon get out of control.

Ric is determined to do anything he can to help the relative of a former patient, despite the AAU being filled to capacity and the hospital being in the midst of a nursing crisis. Essie realises that he has to decide where he stands with Sasha when Ben makes a grand gesture. Kian returns from Holby from Canada to discover that Jac has been taking a step back from her work, and resolves to force her out of her comfort zone.

Max finds herself in a desolate state after receiving blind-siding news, Max tasks Jac and Kian to decide who should be Clinical Lead, but neither are quite ready to take on the baton, and a loved up Essie attempts to do the right thing, but her joy is short lived when shocking revelations threaten her friendship with Dom.
Episode 10
A hectic day sees Cameron seize his chance to impress. Reeling from recent revelations, Sacha, Essie, Dom and Ben face a life-saving surgery with a vulnerable child, and stressed by budget cuts, staffing shortages and an inflexible Max, worried Fletch begins to panic that Holby is heading for disaster.

Xavier is piecing together the puzzle of Evan's death and getting dangerously close to exposing the truth, Essie thinks the worst thing that will happen to her today is dealing with Children's Services, and Jac is keen to impress the Board with a complex and rare surgery that will put them ahead of the competition.

Guy Self returns to Holby, and is now in a relationship with a former patient, a development he wishes to keep a secret from a suspicious Ric. Essie begins her second round of chemotherapy, and her friends are determined to make sure that every other aspect of her life remain as normal as possible. Max makes an announcement regarding the future of Darwin, sending Jac and Kian's relationship into new territory.
Episode 16
Essie attempts to act as if there is nothing to worry about as she starts chemotherapy, but confides in Fletch that she knows they will both face difficult decisions in the future. Guy's past is dredged up, but gets the chance to prove he is better than his reputation - if he can convince Ric to let him operate. Jac is determined to secure a bright future for Darwin after losing a profitable contract, but fears her feelings for Kian may be a distraction.
Episode 17
Kian struggles to cope as a patient dredges up the past, threatening his relationship with Jac, who has uncovered something suspicious concerning Kestrel. Louis works with Guy on a case, only to fall out when he discovers he has been the subject of hospital gossip. Fletch awaits a confirmed date for his operation, only to cause chaos when he makes a false assumption concerning a garish gift.
Episode 18
Fletch's surgery is derailed when Evie reveals a secret that makes him question himself, but both suspect they are just making excuses out of a fear of what the future may hold. Nicky treats a familiar face, and is put in a difficult position by her mother that forces her to choose between cutting her off or making a promise she cannot keep. Max's big day is ruined by devastating revelations from three of her colleagues.
Episode 19
Cameron is devastated after a bad performance review. He is tempted to cross an ethical line to turn things around, but is unprepared for the terrible consequences of his actions. Nicky tries to find a life-saving treatment for Brenda, which puts him at odds with Jac and forced to choose between her professional and personal priorities. Fletch recovers from surgery, and Essie hides the pain from recent events involving Isla.
Episode 20
Nicky is stressed and exhausted, with devastating consequences at work. As she struggles to cope with the pressure from her mother, a tragic incident pushes her over the edge. Ange tells Cameron he is not ready to take the next step in his career. Frustrated by the rejection, he takes out his anger on Louis. Sacha decides to respect Essie's wishes concerning her cancer treatment, but Dominic urges him to persuade her not to give up on palliative care.
Episode 21
Nicky wakes up in hospital to find her overbearing mother interfering in both her work and personal life. She takes the opportunity to reassess her priorities. Fletch and Essie befriend a cancer patient, but the relationship forces all three of them to confront some ugly truths about what the future holds. Guy tries to prove he still has what it takes, and tries to persuade Max to approve a risky operation.
Episode 22
Kian returns to Darwin Ward, determined to make amends with Jac. But when forgiveness does not come easy, Kian goes into self-destruct mode - with almost fatal consequences. Meanwhile, a broken Essie searches for her purpose, but where will she find the answer she seeks? Ric suspects Guy has fallen off the wagon and sets out to stop him working at Holby, once and for all.
Episode 23
Cameron is concerned that charismatic locum Drew Nicholson-Heath (guest star John Barrowman) is out to expose him, so he resorts to his old tricks of playing the hero - but he is almost caught out and gaslights a colleague into thinking she made a mistake. A desperate Sacha wants to give Essie a reason to keep on living, but when she insists on preparing for the inevitable, he does something completely out of character. Kian spends the day babysitting Emma, hoping to win back Jac's heart.
Episode 24
Ric clashes with Max when his determination to destroy Guy puts his health at risk. Distressed by Frankie's disappearance, Essie's suspicions are raised when Sacha avoids the subject. Chloe struggles to keep things professional when her dating life spills onto the ward.
Episode 25
Finding Ric unconscious in theatre, Guy capitalises on the unexpected opportunity. Sacha tries to make things right with Essie, and Nicky receives a surprising offer.
Episode 26
After brain surgery, Ric wakes to find that the world around him has completely changed and that Holby is gripped by a coronavirus pandemic.
Episode 27
A mystery patient could be the undoing of Jac and Kian's secret relationship, and the team are shocked when a new member of staff reveals that Sacha has been lying to them all.
Episode 28
The financial burdens of keeping the hospital doors open and the stresses of her relationship with Louis weigh heavily on Max. A surprise face starts work and stirs up Donna's memories of Xavier.

Sacha battles against the odds to keep going after Essie's death. Cameron tries to win Chloe over, with dramatic consequences. Kian finds himself in a compromised position when Clayton calls him out.

Chloe and Cameron become completely estranged when she finds out that they are competing for the same job. Sacha and Jodie continue to stick together against the naysayers.

Kian's cold turkey is tested when Sarah Jane calls in a favour. Can Kian stand firm or will he crack under the pressure?

Sacha buries his head in the sand when Beka is taken ill on New Year's Eve. Kian is on edge as Sarah Jane avoids his calls, and his stash is running out. He tries to convince Jac he is fine when she worries that their relationship is the problem. It is total chaos on AAU, and the F1s are daunted when Hanssen leaves them alone to face their first New Year's night shift.

Skylar's mistake has fatal consequences, but is she really the one to blame? Kian admits his addiction to Jac, and Donna tries to put Xavier's memory to rest.

It's the day of the hearing, but who will the panel listen to, Cameron or Skylar? Jac can't shake her worries about what Kian is getting up to.
Episode 35
Jac must fight for control of the hospital when a returning patient wreaks havoc. Reeling from Skylar's tragedy, the F1s try to cover their tracks when a flirtatious patient makes a serious accusation. Grieving Sacha is scared of letting go of his daughter while a desperate Jodie is on the loose, and his usual arsenal of lies, delays and deceptions may not be enough to keep Beka safe.

The hospital is locked down with a gunman on the loose. Trapped in theatre, Cameron needs Nicky's help if he is not to be exposed as being way out of his depth.

Sacha gets the shock of his life when Jodie appears back on the scene. On her first day on Darwin, Jac's replacement, Sahira Shah, doesn't take kindly to Kian. And a bubbly new nurse, Kylie, arrives in acute admissions, but will she survive her first day?

Sacha and Hanssen battle to save Dom's life in theatre, while Jodie is terrified that she might lose her baby. Sahira tries to steady the good ship Holby, up on Darwin.

Ange blocks Dom's discharge, Alex makes a shocking discovery when a patient arouses his suspicions, and Nicky's health issues return.
Episode 40
Hanssen is shaken when a figure from his past appears. Cameron is backed into a corner when Bobby arrives on the ward threatening to talk. Ange and Dom clash over his decision to sue the hospital.

Chloe tells Ange that she thinks Cameron was involved in a patient's death. Hansen tries to protect Sahira. Will Max ask Lucky to stay, when she proves her worth on her last day?

After learning from Sahira that he may not have been Reyhan's only victim, a distracted Hanssen makes a terrible mistake in theatre. Will it be life-ending for Reyhan?

Cameron holds Ange hostage as the truth of his crimes comes to light. Max needs to look out for Louis, but is she up to it? And Dom is back on the ward for the first time since he decided to sue the hospital.
