On the outside, Clete Mizenheimer is interviewing Rick Nudley, a car salesman. Heather complains about her stomach, and Martha decides to take her home. Rick says that they finally found the car in Portoville. Davey says that he wants her car to be completely fresh. He wants clean tires, and nothing over 15 miles on it. Jesus is telling us about the tension surrounding the situation. Rev. Standfast comes over in his luxurous Lincoln. The Rev. obviously gets scared of the whole fact that Davey has a gun. He gets a blowhorn and starts to talk to Davey about what he is doing. Standfast starts to read scripture through the blowhorn. Davey isn't listening to a word he says, since him and Mary are playing a game. The car finally arrives. Davey makes a new demand: He wants Standfast to come into the store with a stack of bibles, and to swear on them that the police will not follow Davey. Standfast gets a little jittery as if he doesn't know what to do. Rev. tries to stall. Tom loses his top
