Coverage of the Group D match from Leipzig Stadium, as two former champions face each other in an eagerly awaited encounter. Ronald Koeman's Dutch team are looking to win their first major title since 1988, when they beat the Soviet Union 2-0 in the final thanks to goals from Ruud Gullit and Marco Van Basten. Since then they have reached the semi-finals twice in the Euros, while also making the final four three times at the World Cup. The French have fared better in major tournaments since 1988, winning the World Cup twice and also reaching the final of this competition twice, including one victory in 2000. They can call on the quality of the likes of Kylian Mbappe, who ended up on the losing side despite scoring a hat-trick in the 2022 World Cup final, Paris Saint-Germain forward Ousmane Dembele, and all-time record goal-scorer Olivier Giroud, who has announced his retirement from international football following this tournament.
